please excuse my ignorance here, this is my first fuel injected bike, would a power commander give you the ability to bypass the speed limiter along with tuning out the bad throttle response in modes other than b mode?

no the pc can not bypass the speedlimiter. The bad throttle response is more then just a fuelng issue its also in the fly by wire settings. Only an ecu flash can change the fly by wire settings

I sent my ECU to ECU unleashed, they claim to remove the speed limiter. I'll test it out for indicated top speed when the snow/salt gets off the roads here in WI. My 2011 FZ-8 did an indicated 161 with about a 20 mph tailwind, tach was in the red almost at the rev limiter if I remember right. And I was wrapped around the bike like a pretzel and I only weigh 150lbs mind you.

I topped out my coworker's mostly stock gsxr 750 (2010 I think it was) at 186mph indicated. She was still climbing fast so I think I hit the speed limiter.

honestly, with no steering damper and no windscreen. This bike is brutal at high speeds. 120 on this bike feels way worse than 160 on my other bike. I have no reason to reach top speed. I find this bike is much more fun in the curves and anytime u get to make a quick maneuver. <<<< Spelling? Lol

Stock '11 Gixxer tops out at 162 mph. Only stock bikes that hit around the 180 mark are liter bikes. My R6s topped out at 164 before I upgraded them. My 07 R1 didn't even break 190 mph after modding it. I'd guess the motor on the FZ would top out in the high 150s, but it's certainly not designed for those speeds.

It's not just 5th and sixth, guys. The rev limiter limits it in every gear, probably to keep from total destruction. The problem is, the higher you are in rpm's the quicker it revs and it's hard to hit it just right. Triplethreat is right, she's a BEAST!
I agree with you, my FZ6 kicks in rev limiter at 12k rpm for 2nd gear 12.5 or 13k for 3rd gear, noticed on track..!
BTW, 110mph is more than enough, I usually don't go far that.

Since this thread is not locked yet ill put my question here.

Today i hit 221 kph on my fz 09, i dont have a flash or anything to get rid of the limiter. my bike has a m4 and pc5, and modded suspension.

She was still pulling but i ran out of road.

So how can i hit 221 kph (137mph) when my bike should be limited to 212 kph (132mph)?

bought the bike brand new, has stock tires and gearing.

The throttle map is only one piece of the speed limit. Removing the throttle map restriction alone won't eliminate the speed limiter. You'll need to disable it separately as it is a direct feedback from the speed sensor. Discussed ad nauseum in the previous 17 pages.

My 2014 did 223km/h max. I chalked it up to speedometer error (which seemed to be about 7% vs a GPS).
