Yep I also bought the 719 and love them. they are one of the thicker (bigger) ones, but actually my stock grips were pretty thick too, which I didn't realize until I bought some Domino grips, then I hated how skinny those were, it felt like a mountain bike grip.

Domino XM2 = 1.22" dia
Progrip 719 = 1.29" dia
my stock ones = 1.3" dia

It isnt a big difference on paper but you can really feel it. My throttle hand was killing me on long rides (2 hours+) with those Dominos and also thought I wanted a bigger one, and the only bigger ones they had around here were chrome ones for cruisers, so I tried wrapping some mountain bike grip tape around the dominos to make them a little bigger than the stock ones, and it didnt really help much, did not measure the dia but it was comparable to what my cruiser was. So then tried the 719s and they are stickier than the stock ones so require less squeeze to operate which I think helps. But for long rides (was doing 8 hour days last week) I bought one of these cheater devices which does wonders on the highway. but when you stop in towns it does get in the way if you're not careful, but worth it for the highway.

I use these:
Pro Grip RVGS Gel Grip 719 - RevZilla

Little bit larger than OEM and much more comfy!

From what I am hearing it is common practice to switch out the oem grips with aftermarkets. Progrips for example. Questions. Why? If you wear gloves are there still benefits or is it a waste of time?

I've got bigger hands and wanted a bit larger diameter grips that would also help with vibration on some buzzier bikes. Pro Grip 714 is what I've used on every bike since 1995. They also have safety wire grooves if you want to go that route, instead of or in addition to grip glue.

If you don't mind replacing your grips yearly the Renthal Soft/Medium/Hard street grips are awesome. I have ran those grips on every bike I have owned in the past 11 years. I do really like the new ODI lock on grips but do not have not personally tested the street ones.

Has anyone had an issue where the clutch side of the aftermarket grips spin freely? I ordered up the Pro Grip 838 which was a bit too thin for my liking and then picked up the 699s but they were still spinning...

ProGrip 714s here with no spin on stock bars. Didn't use glue, just water to slip them on. Lovin the 714s, they cut vibration by 90%. IMO

I had the worst problem with my right arm going numb after about 20 minutes of riding. I swapped the bars for Buell 1125cr bars which don't have harmonic dampening end weights and have a more forward position requiring I lean into the bars putting more weight on them. I had ordered Renthal grips to swap I ordered some foam 'comfort grips' and love them. I'm sure they're ill-advised for at least two or three good reasons, but they feel like memory foam, don't move around, and so far I haven't had my hands or arms go numb since I have had them installed. Now to figure out how to keep my butt from going numb...

Handlebars vibration on the throttle side really kill me, i have try on the FZ-09 Pro Grips 699, too smooth and no change in vibrations, really dont like it, after, i add Grip Puppies to it, wrong and still vibrate and too fats, now i have Oury grip, old tech grips and cheap and i really like it, exactly what i want, if you try it, you will like it for sure, not to big, not to small and really kill vibrations and with G2 throttle tammer, its a must, really more smooth action throttle. For start, i have Y200 at the start but with Yamaha ecu update, i have stock profil Y100 and its perfect, happy rider!

That is so weird because I have resistance when I put the stock grips back on. At first I thought I might've just had a bad set with the 838s since they slide on so easily so I picked up a set of 699s and same issue, it feels like there's at least 1mm of free play between the bar and the grips. I am assuming that the grips are identical on both sides, I haven't tried the brake side yet since I can't get a solid seal on the left side even with the grip glue. Any thoughts?

OVERSIZE GRIP TIP: For those golfers out there who replace their grips you'll know about this. If you want the grips a bit bigger go to your local golf shop and get some double face grip tape. Either the 1inch or the wider stuff works equally well. Apply the tape on the bar or the barrel as thick as you like but don't forget to peel the outer cover off. Then douse the tape and the inside of the grip with lighter fluid and slide on. Make sure you have enough lighter on both surfaces because you only have one shot at sliding it on. With the right amount of fluid it slides on easily. Position the grip where you want it and in 15 minutes or so you'll be ready to go. BTW there is a way to get them off without cutting the grip but you'll need a compressor and small air nozzle. Usually the local golf shop can help you. Good Luck!

Any good thicker grips out there. My hand is numb at the end of a 4 hour ride.
