You need to consider the rest of the logistics footprint associated with a change of this magnitude: owner/dealer feedback, engineering verification, testing, production, shipping, and technical documentation to name a few. Without fear of sounding like a broken record, I think Yamaha is doing OK with their response to this.

It could be worse. You could own a BMW R1200GT (BMW Issues No Ride Warning for '14 R1200RT - Motorcycle USA) or a Porsche GT3 (Porsche announces plan to replace 911 GT3 engines - Autoblog) ; those owners were flat out told to park the machines while they figure things out.
I understand the logistics of the situation, and if the updated tensioner does make it to everyone waiting by the first part of July I will agree that they handled it "ok". I'm still riding my bike so it's really no big deal.

My experience has been that not all dealers are considered equal. Some seem to have priority treatment regarding availability. My dealer also obtained the first FZ-09 in the state (my personal bike) and received another 2 before others in the area even received their first. Find a large volume dealer if the wait is excessive...

If Fizzer has under 200 kits out, and we assume some owners didn't buy his kit it would be safe to assume that there is currently less than a thousand bikes effected by this that we know of. That being said, a company like Yamaha or their vendor should have the resources to produce 1-2 thousand of these fairly quickly imho.
Plus, I purchased the fix just in case I need it. My bike was built 3 months ago so I assume it came with the 03 tensioner, but still wanted a fizzer kit for backup in case it ever makes noise. I know im not alone because I got the idea from a few others thst purchased it for insurance.

I actually took it a step further and installed the set screw before it ever had a chance to start making noise. It's at about 1800 miles now and at 2k I will pull the set screw, check the adjustment, and re-install. Once the demand dies down and the final CCT revision is proven reliable, I will purchase one out of pocket and install. Until then, set screw FTW.

My bike has a date of 04/14 on the frame sticker. I'm not sure if my CCT is an 03 tensionor, it say 01 on it. So far, at least to me, I do not hear a ticking or grinding noise. I have placed an order for the CCT with my local dealer when I got the 600 mile service done, he's giving me an eta of about a week and will install under warranty. But I bought a fizzer CCT kit just in case...

premier yamaha,i emailed yamaha canada with my concerns of when the updated cct will be available and all of a sudden within a couple of weeks my dealer has the new part,i originally went to dealer with complaint of the cct noise, yamaha canada got them to do the temporary adjustment but the noise just came right back within a few hundred ks,there a new dealer here in my home town, great dealer to deal with

I was told by a member on here that even the 3rd revision of the tensioner says 01 or something like that so we might still have rev 3.

Here is the post.

Evil mech. Don't be confused. The new tensioner. -003. Is stamped. S1

I took it out of the box at the dealer and checked myself.

It is just a casting number.

I have about eight hundred miles on my bike. I don't notice a ticking/clicking on my bike just the whining. Maybe its just me and my bad ears. But I do notice stains on my cct like it was leaking. For some reason I can't attach pic from my phone.

Maybe I wont have a tick for long...
Excellent! Glad you finally got it. After install, could you report back on the installation procedure(just ordered my service manual) and whether it's working and quiet now? I'm probably going to go this route and order mine online(Stadium Yamaha-$68) and just do it myself. Also-looking at the pic, is that the top of the tension screw with the hex head that's sticking out? Is that where the 3mm Allen wrench slots in? Interesting to see one out of the bike like that. Good luck with it, hope this solves your problem, my friend...

*edit*: After looking at your pic more closely, the top mounting surface of the revision looks much different than the original, and I think I was mistaken-is that hex head with the shaft used in lieu of the Allen wrench for the spring compression? Interesting, should make it much easier to slowly release the spring tension after it's in place.
