Are there any good options out there for us for a steering damper? In wheelie mode this thing can get a little scary. Maybe one could just fab a mount for the Ohlins damper?
correct.so correct me if I'm wrong, this damper the GPR V4s Stabilizer will reduce or eliminate tank slap or wheel wobble at higher speeds/acceleration?
Anyone tried one of the chinese GPR clones? They got positive reviews from the Tracer / FJ forum; the XSR is a lot more prone to headshake than the Tracer (riding position /extra weight over front?)
EDIT - I'm not sure these would work. there seem to be two types - this one
Steering Damper With Mounting Bracket for Yamaha FZ MT-09 Tracer FJ-09 2015 UK | eBay
which looks like it's designed for the tracer - the Tracer has higher risers, don't think this would fit under bars
and this one
Turning Stabilizer Steering Damper With Bracket FOR YAMAHA MT-09/FZ-09 2014-2016 | eBay
which sits on top of the yokes - but the supplied top yokes don't have the necessary tabs for the instrument cluster.
The first one would work with risers I guess.
Edit 2: tabs are on the bottom yoke, so second one would work if a trifle ugly. Less than a quarter of GPR price though!
Go on, take a punt and let us know if it works!Hi Mike
Have you tried this fleabay damper? Or anyone else for that matter? I wanna give this a punt but the 'compaitability' selector says my 2016 XSR900 'A' is NOT compatible!?! uh?
Bummer.

Was the loop bracket that is attached to the hydraulic part rubbing the aluminum mount that holds the rod? Is/was the mount too tall?I tried one of these the hydraulic part works fine the hardware sucks ,in less than 2k miles the aluminum mount wore out where the stainless steel rod pivots , unless you have a machine shop i would pass
After some use the stainless rod "eggs" out the aluminum,I guess part of the problem could be the height because the dampener is on top of the barsWas the loop bracket that is attached to the hydraulic part rubbing the aluminum mount that holds the rod? Is/was the mount too tall?
Correct,it just drops in the holeAre you saying the rod gets loose inside the aluminum block? How is it mounted in that block?

Well that bites!Correct,it just drops in the hole
Yeah a link to that would be awesome!!eBay special, no different from the FZ09, as long as you are not afraid to trim the plastic piece by about 2cm.
It?s completely unnoticeable.
Had one on my FZ09 and one on my xsr for a few 1000 kms... no issue so far.
