You could get it checked out with dye penetrant. If it's a surface blemish, it would not penetrate and pass the test. Any kind of a crack would fail.
Like I said: Dye Penetrant. Pass=casting surface imperfection, Fail=crack.
Just checked my 2015 and it has the same marking. So, are all of these on the right hand side only? If they are and the marks all look identical, it would point directly to a flaw in the casting mold used on all of them. I still believe in a dye penetrant test for absolute proof, but with less than 200 miles on mine, it's hardly had enough service time to crack. And when cracks occur on multiple parts, they rarely look alike.

I may be mistaken, but it appears to be on yours too. It's a little hard to tell by your picture, but look closely at the top radius above your forward right hand side mounting bolt recess.
I have exactly the same marks as Lateralus on my 2015. They have to be mold marks to all be identical. It still warrants a trip to the dealership for documentation. Yamaha should be all over their suppliers and their own incoming inspection on this. If I couldn't compare with all the other postings, I would really think they are cracks. Comparing left side to right side reinforces a defective die.
