OBD2 diagnostic tool for clearing faults

I have been searching the web for a place to buy the adapter that will go from the port under our seat to the ODB2 scanner to clear fault codes and the engine light rather than going to a dealer every time to do it. I can't find anything. I have a bluetooth ODB2 scanner already that connects to my android phone but still need the chord to connect to the bike. Can anyone please help me find that chord I am in dire need of it. I apologize in advance if this has been brought up many times on this forum.

Doesn't disconnecting the ECU clear the memory....or the battery for that natter....if not a lump hammer will. Stupid setup so Yamaha dealers get to charge you for something that should be easy.

No that won't work. The ECU stores the fault in flash memory.
It's European law, not yamaha.
The rest of the world had to comply with USA DOT stupid laws for a long time, guess Europe is getting theirs back

Wait a sec. Will this cable work? I did some searching and this almost looks like the correct one except it doesn't show the face of the plug going to bike so i can't really tell if this would work....

Ya there is a few realtime meters that come with this if that's what you are referring to. You can customize which ones you want showing. You set up so that you can put certain sensors in your engine to these bars. I'll look into it a bit more when I ride next.

And then there is a graph viewer which can show your 0-100km/h speed, engine load and a whole tonne of other things. I was going take a picture of them but it would take too long. I might actually try the graph viewer just for fun now that I actually looked at it.

For those who are wondering, I found the part number. It is Sumitomo 6188-0004 or 6180-4771 (not sure which is male or female). I ordered mine based on the picture from this website: Motorcycle MT .090 Sealed Series - Connector and Terminals

I got the "Male Half Only", listed as Male MT090-47. The heading on the website is "4 pin MT .090 - 2.3mm Male and Female locking connector." I hope this helps someone.

I have a 2014 FZ-09. No fault codes, but I decided to make an adapter following the info above just in case I need it in the future. Wired everything up, triple checked everything is correct. Purchased a Bluetooth dongle that works with my iphone and downloaded a few different apps. I got one app to connect to the dongle, but it won't communicate with the bike. I set it to ISO15765-4 CAN 11bit 500kbaud per a different thread here. I tried my wired OBD2 scanner and it doesn't work either. Finally, I purchased a wi-fi dongle that is also iphone compatible and downloaded their suggested app. I can connect to the dongle, but the bike doesn't communicate with it. Am I doing something wrong?

I was successful erasing a code with these two items. Have to move the pins in the OBD2 connector to match the locations show above. I removed some insulation from the wires and wrapped the wire around a short piece of a paper clip then secured it with some heat shrink tubing. I'm not sure why twisting pairs is recommended or required but I did it anyway. Then just pressed the paper clips into the female connector on the bike.

At first the scan tool came on but did not connect and read. I unplugged it, then turned the ignition key to ON then plugged the scan tool back in. Pressing enter per the instructions still did not make it scan but then I held the enter and the scroll buttons at the same time and it read then allowed me to erase the code. Worked great.

Ive never used the torque app, but I would check to make sure it's getting power and ground. Is the module getting power? A simple test light or volt meter can help you determine this. If you are getting power and ground, then it lies in the other 2 wires which are canbus low/high wires or the problem could lie in the wireless module itself. Have you tried a wired connection to rule out the adapter? You'll need to check pins 4,6,14,16 to make sure they are working correctly. I personally would put some low power at one end and check the other end with a light tester or volt meter to see if power is running constantly through. If all 4 connections work, then your problem probably lies in the wireless module. Hope this helps
