My local Yamaha dealer is hosting a demo day on April 17th and I got my name down to try out the new FZ-10 sporting a slightly de-tuned version of the inline 4 motor from the R1.

Should be a blast cuz I think it still puts out around 170 hp or there abouts. If I ever decide to sell my 09 I may consider the FZ-10 as a next bike.

You lucky Dog! When you do ride it please give us US potential buyers a decent ride review. I have spoken for the first one at my local dealer, if the US markets receive them. I hope it happens.

Yamaha Canada's website doesn't show that bike on the power tour. Is the dealer sure they'll have one there?

I'm surprised we still haven't heard much of a peep about when it's coming to the U.S. at this point

My local dealer here said they are the first in Canada to get the FZ-10 in, and it's a strictly demo version only. They told me that after this particular bike finishes its role as a demo machine it's destined for the crusher. Apparently it doesn't have DOT approvals yet for road sales.

I sat on it this Saturday in the showroom and it's very comparable in size to the FZ-09 it's just a little wider at the crotch area, not surprising since there's an extra cylinder. I just hope the weather is good on the 17th when I have my ride scheduled.

So does this mean no road test rides? since this would be like trying to take a dirt bike for a test ride on the road.

Hopefully the FZ-10 hits a few dealerships before they "crush" it, or maybe try to sell it as a track only bike????

So am I. (come on now, you can't lob a softball like that across the plate and not expect me to swing)

Canada gets all the cool stuff, the FZ-10, French fries covered in gravy, and cops on horses. It's too bad it's cold and half the country is French.

Hell, I'm thinking about going up to Canada to check one of these out.

No matter were you live, someone is going to come up with a joke, or two......

See what I mean.... no one is safe, lol.

Some inaccuracies there. Cell block E is NSW where i am. It was settled/colonised/invaded first, it should be Cell block A. And underneath Cell block F is the state of Tasmania. It was also a cell block.
Dont feel bad about leaving off Tasmania, a major supermarket chain was selling hats for Australia day. they left it off, too. Since this thread is derailed, look up the song "map of tasmania" by amanda palmer.

And Lou, there's heaps of kiwis over here already. I know you love us.

No it's allowed on the road for demo rides but not for sale.. Kind of strange rules I know. I asked my dealer if I could swap my forks for the FZ-10 forks before they crush it but he just laughed, I was serious though.

No snow here in Vancouver, we had a dusting of snow at the end of November but since then nothing. It's been sunny for a couple weeks and warm but we have had our share of rain this winter.

^ The dealer told me the bike would end up in Toronto eventually before getting crushed, but I don't know if it will make its way there province by province or direct by air..

I don't know why they'd test the market in Canada, for example in 2014 total motorcycle sales reached around 60K units while 485k units were sold in the US.
Based on the same source, total% of units sold by province: BC = 15%, Alberta = 21%, Ontario = 22%, Quebec = 30%.
Maybe I should check with my dealer if there's some test drive, to be continued...
