So, I know on the XSR there's an AUX connector under the seat. I don't remember the manual specifying that the plug inside the box on the right side of the frame is also an AUX connector... Are we positive that's what that particular plug is for? It's not some kind of diagnostic plug or something?
Had my GPS plugged into that AUX connector all year, no issues. It is 100% definitely switched with key on/off.

Good luck to OP - you'll find it. Please let us know when you do.

I know one time I changed my speedometer cable on my truck, and forgot to plug in a cable into the back of the dash,

and somehow it didnt let my alternator charge my battery,

and I finally figured out what I had done, and plugged the cable back into the dash, and my alternator started charging my battery again.

where did you get the battery from?

are you sure it doesnt have a dead cell?

have you tried recharging the battery again?

if your not sure with the DVOM,

here is a test you can do (using the fuses)

1. Hook the battery up, (postive terminal) but leave the black terminal/ cable unhooked,

2. take a test light and clamp the one end on the negative terminal, and then touch the tip of the test light on the negative battery post

3. if the test light, lights up, you have a short somewhere,

4. then start pulling fuses, until the light goes out

(if that doesnt work, your'e chasing ghosts)

if the test light DOES light up, and you so happen to pull a fuse, and the light DOES go OFF,

then you find what circuit the fuse controls, then start tracing wires, looking for shorted/burnt wires, checking grounds, whatever blah blah, it gets complicated, etc etc. haha.

I know that test procedure works, because its one listed in my Haynes manual for my truck,

also while diagnosing a alternator issue I was having on my truck, I found out using that test procedure, that the fuse that controls my cargo lamp, has a short in it somewhere, because after I pulled that particular fuse, the test light went out,

I still havent traced any of the wires, because I do not use my cargo lamp, but do not want the fuse in that circuit, because it could drain my battery, so for now I just have the fuse out.

if I didnt explain it well, I could take a photo of how the test light gets hooked up to the negative side terminal, and negative side battery post, if it helps.

I also have this problem. Bought my blazing orange fz09 salesman rode it up while we finished paperwork. When i was done we went outside started it he showed me everything and turned the bike off. I got back on and went to start it. It just cranked. He had to push start it. Rode it around stopped and had service check it out. Battery was low. They charged it and I rode it home. Two days later same problem it would just crank. Called shop and they said they would install a new battery. Next day it started right up and i rode it to work. There were high rain chances the rest of the week so I waited for a clear day. Rolled the bike out to go to work and when i turn the switch to on my turn signals were dim but no headlight. Tried the switch and there was no crank. Called shop and i had to trailer the bike to them. They said they did a diagnostic and did not find anything. They just wanted to put another battery in it and send me on my way. But i told them that we wanted to keep it there and see if the battery is dead again when they open on tuesday. This thread is very helpful and I will be bringing the troubleshooting suggestions up to them. Does anyone know why they would not be able to find it on diagnostic? Is the battery circuit taken out of the loop? I have a gut feeling it could be the switch but i need to get the manual for this bike. Thanks.
