Before I go and replace the Master Cylinder, I wanted to know if any one else has these marks on the front brake master cylinder:

Thanks in advance!

The reason I'm asking is because I took an impact driver to put the aftermarket mirrors in (yes, stupid idea!!), which I didn't even end up keeping on the bike... and then I noticed those markings. So I'm not sure if the vibrations from the impact driver caused this or if it's like that from the factory, which is why I'm asking here.

Stupid mistake on my part...so back to the main question, if anyone can confirm whether or not they have those markings, that would be great!

Thanks!

I just wanted to make sure the impact drill isn't what caused this...

Thanks again everyone!

It kinda did lol!
That's why I used the impact, to "rethread" it to fit the bolt for the aftermarket mirrors. Like I said, not the best idea and lesson learnt!
Worse part, is that I have a tool to rethread and I didn't think to use it until after...

There just shrinkage marks from the casted part cooling at different rates within the mold. They have been there since the sec. the part was poured. Some manufactures would have detailed them out, shot peened it for finish and painted it or anodized the part and charged 4x more for it.

I asked on Reddit and one person answered that they have no markings at all on theirs.
I'll just replace it, I rather be safe than sorry.

If it bothers you just take it to a mechanic I don’t want to be involved if you have an accident. Brakes are important so have it transported to your closest mechanic to check for you. Your only going to get opinions and maybe through photos. Have you looked inside to see any cracks. Look up on YouTube people checking and replacing your fluid maybe
I ordered a new one.

A master cylinder off Ebay, it has similar marks:

Another one from a different listing:

Or maybe all these guys used uggaduggas to remove their mirrors, lol

Pro tip: don't ever take a close look at the cast aluminum frame.
Almost all of the ones on eBay came off a crashed bike...

Any ways, problem solved, ordered a new one.

If you're freaked out about the casting marks, you can use a penetrant crack test dye kit.
