The front upper tank covers seem quite complex in the way they are put together and bolted to the tank. I cannot find a photo series or video showing the sequence in how best to remove them anywhere. Does anyone have a picture series or video? Thanks!!

There probably aren't any videos. I think they assume that if you want to do stuff that requires removing the gas tank that you can figure out how to get the body work off. That being said, IMO, motorcycle bodywork is a convoluted mess. Especially....those rigoddamndiculous hidden fasteners. What I've always done is go to Partzilla's website and look at the parts diagram. It's always gotten me in the ballpark to where I could figure it out. Out of curiosity, what are you trying to accomplish?

i know the old one was an ass pain, im guessing the new bike is not much better.

post some pictures I may be able to help
That would be great! I cannot believe all that plastic stuff in a thousand parts out front there. The radiator guards are easy to take off and the center cover by the ignition key as well, but the rest is a mess!

You have such a nice guide for the MT-09. With all those tracer 9 now running they should become a good customer group for you and could use the help as well ! (y)

Ok. Finally got around to removing the ECM and mailed it off to Vcyclenut today for my flash. Actually, the cover removal on the new T9GT is super simple. Took my 30 minutes being careful with everything.

- First, once you get there REMOVE the ENTIRE tank form the bike. It makes removing the ECM so much easier than trying to just lift the front. I ran my tank down to about 1/2 gallon fuel and you can disconnect the vent and fuel lines without any spillage.

Next ... the panels:
  1. First, take off the seats and all the paneling around the rear tank mount (Black center cover and side covers), and unbolt the tank mount at the frame (4 cap screws)
  2. Next, there are only four component groups and one center cover to remove around the front of the tank before it can be unbolted and lifted off:
    1. Remove the left and right side "Cowling Assemblies" that run from the headlights down along the sides of the radiator. Remove one bolt for each located right next to the headlights and the three plastic rivets each next to the radiator, then pull the assembly outward off the grommet and upward out of the bottom hook.
    2. Remove the black fuel tank center cover located right behind the ignition lock ("Fuel Tank Top Cover"). It is only held by two plastic rivets located at left and right front of the cover. Then slide the cover forward and off.
    3. Next, remove the left and right side tank cover assemblies ("Fuel Tank Side Covers"). There are three bolts to unfasten: On the forward tip of the assembly right behind the headlight, one on the bottom center of the assembly and one at the top rear of the unit fastened to an anodized cross bracket on top of the tank. Then pull each unit out of its rubber grommet.
    4. That's it. Now remove the two front tank mount bolts left and right (They're surprisingly tiny!) and lift the tank to disconnect the elec. FP connector, the two vent/drain lines and the main fuel line. The tank comes clear off and you have full access to remove the ECM easily.
