2021 MT-09 aftermarket exhaust options

You can tell it's not full titanium b/c if you neglect the headers they'll start showing rust spots lol

Thank you! Which part is the 'sleeve' pls?

Since weight seems to be of interest to some I can report that the complete OE/ stock system taken off my SP weighs a very chunky 8.2kg or 18.1 pounds, which according to the spec sheet is 2kg or 4.4 pounds less than stock..

To clarify or otherwise the 'Full Titanium' claim, that is actually Yamaha's product description on their accessories website here - see my pic below. But as said - I could care less, and it's purely academic to me, but still nice to know!

To continue the trivia for those who may never have seen the underside of the stock system, here are a cuppla pix of this rather complex bit of engineering. I always liked this design, where the muffler is almost completely hidden under the bike. IMHO it compares more than favourably with what we BMWers call the 'water-heater' styles of massive, heavy, expensive, exposed, often very ugly and easy-to-damage zorsts. Well done Yamaha in this regard!

I have been in contact with them and also with Yoshi, even Yoshi that already has a prototype built even told me that they’re looking to mass produce by summer of next year.

I was in touch with Austin Racing today. They said that they are hoping to release an exhaust for the 2021 MT 09 early 2022

I’m waiting for the AR system as I’m looking at a full titanium system and Graves is too expensive (I don’t think they have a 2021 MT09 exhaust yet anyway) and I couldn’t see any info for the Spark system

But I could just get the SC project or the Akra

The cost cutting on this bike isn't as evident just from pictures. Or maybe I just haven't owned a modern bike in awhile. I'm getting crash bars for this reason. I imagine this bike exploding into a million plastic pieces if there's an unfortunate collision with a car or just dropped. I've only had my SP for about a week now. Cheers!

yup stock exhaust the fugliest I’ve ever seen💯🤮 difficult to clean just the worst👎🏻 but sound ain’t so bad …

the aftermarket exhaust system manufacturers are slowly trickling out their products sure Akrapovic was first I think it might be the most accessible and tunable but be patient cause Yoshimura also has one also Arrow I think is available just saw Two Bro’s …
you should wait for Graves and Zard also there’s a company in Japan called OVER Racing that makes some beautiful stuff it could be difficult to get but not impossible … oh yeah Austin Racing probably eventually and SC Project could also be another possibility …

Does anyone know when Yoshimura will be releasing their exhaust? I was told this month and this month is well almost over with the holidays and I have heard nothing.

Sent an email to Austin Racing To see if there was an update regarding 21MT09 exhaust. They sent the following - I’m more keen on the AR than the Akra or Yoshimura as I like how the titanium headers develop blue as time goes on


There’s no further update as of yet.
Hoping to get something sorted within the first quarter.
Keep an eye on our social media and hopefully we can get something on there for you soon!

Hi dear friends, it took couple of months realizing this group. Fortunately upon reading all the owner's comments and suggestions I have seen that I hadn't chosen wrong exhaust.
I just wanna share with you what I have ordered and waiting for your feedbacks. The only thing is, the online market works a little slow. They say, the catalytic converter has been being produced for over the last 10 days. Please also let me know something about this market if you know something. "MOTOSTORM ITALY".

Yea the short one is loud...I ride with dB in and it's ok but on the loud side ,☺😄. Might want to consider the silencer they have in the header plus a longer exhaust.

I haven't tried the db killer yet,but it's definetely loud.I don't think that it will change much with the silencer and I'm seriously considering ordering the mid pipe with the installed extra silencer,to replace the straight mid pipe.

I spoke with Spark exhausts in Italy. They said that their 2021 MT09 exhausts are ready and the pricing will be released shortly so that they can go on sale

I’m specifically interested in their full Ti system but they said that will take a little longer

I am still keen on the AR full Ti system but they said end of Q1

of spark is gonna be a lot more pricey that the AR, then I will just wait

not that much on the forums regarding Spark
