Did you see the original handlebar mounts? I thought it was paint on the bottom mating surface (where there shouldn't be), and the threaded stud might not have had enough thread lock applied during production. It isn't that, the lower handlebar mounts have paint inside where the threads are located. They have to replace them with ones that do not have paint on the threads. This is all, in case the paint breaks free, the handlebars may break loose.
I also live in Michigan and just picked up my 2106 XSR...dealer did not notify me of any recall and I doubt they did anything to the bike? Doesn't look like my VIN falls into the recall string...did you get yours taken care of?Nope, I'm in Michigan. There are other dealers but they are farther away. It's really hard for me to drop off a bike because I need my wife to pick me up and I've got a 7mo baby at home. A giant PITA. If all I need to do is install the clamp and use loctite I can do that on my own.
Must have been a late build 2016 ... but I thought all 2016 XSR900s were affected - ? If so, the dealer should have done the recall before selling the bike.I also live in Michigan and just picked up my 2106 XSR...dealer did not notify me of any recall and I doubt they did anything to the bike?
