Went to test ride the XSR today. Loved it! Only thing that really disappointed me was the exhaust note, or lack of. The dealer (in Australia) told me the only pipes you can get for it is the full Akropovic in Titanium or Carbon. And only a full system as the stock system is fully welded, so no slip ons available.

Sith, as far as stock cans go, i think this is OK. what type of riding did you do? under load, around 8-10k, it sounds pretty wild, i think....

good to know about the full system info, but it's still pretty new. i've been looking at the geometry and it does indeed look like the mt-09, so hunting for a 2nd hand full system at the moment. There is plenty of stuff available, but i reckon wait a bit and you'll have some specific options for the xsr900 from the major players. I'd be shocked if yoshi and the others dont offer something, considering they already do for the mt09.

I feel compelled to add that I had a deposit down for a yellow 60th Anniv one. I went to look at the Aluminum to prove to myself that I hated it. I couldn't leave. The serial on this bike is a bunch of 0s followed by two digits. It's one of the first 100 made. I just couldn't walk away. Eff the yellow. This bike can become the Walking Dead/Mad Max machine I see hidden under those ugly a$$ turn signals.

After riding it a few times I also must add that this bike is totally sick. Looks, handling, speed, power, comfort.... It's everything you could want in a street bike. Seriously. I had no idea the FZ was so fast. I've had some big bikes and ran a '02 ZRX1200 and an '06 CBR1000RR for a couple years. This bike feel faster in the lower registers. It's perfect.

Also, the press photos of the aluminum did not do this bike justice. It just looks friggin' absolutely great in person.

Ok... off to go ride.

Peace!
totally agree. just came back from a big ride, and it ticked all my boxes over and over agian.

Very interested in your report Compton. I put these on my old Cb1100f: Rizoma Mirrors - Reverse Retro [12148] - $149.95 : Motorcycle Accessories Supermarket, Motorcycle Accessories Supermarket (MCA) is your one-stop shop for Harley, sports bike, & off road bike parts & accessories. Fast shipping.

The Rizomas are excellent quality, but three times the price of the ones you're going for mate. The advantage of this style of bar-end is it doesn't increase the bike width for filtering. You do have to be careful when you're walking your bike around as I find they can interfere with your wrists in some manoeuvres...

Yes the Rizoma ones are pretty pricey... I've had some replicas on my last bike for four years and they were perfect. Only problem is they were already installed when I got the bike and are unbranded so I don't know where they came from. I'd buy them again if I could. So anyway, fingers crossed. I was toying with the idea of some round bar end mirrors. Maybe I'll get inspired when people start getting their XSRs and sticking nice things on them...

I'm definitely going to be getting one of the Rizoma reversible retro bar end mirrors. Wondering if you or anyone you know has experience installing these? The site where I want to order also suggests installing one of their bar ends for another $40.00...Is this true? Thanks in advance for any advice.

If you are ordering from motomachines, do not, repeat do not bother with the 40 dollar "adapters". They are just regular rizoma bar ends that ultimately will not work with the FZ/XSR's threaded inner handlebar. Ideally the best way to install Rizoma Reversible (and basically what motomachines wants you to do) would be on an aftermarket bar with the handles pushed in a bit to make room for the mirrors to mount on the very end of the handle bars (the actual handle bars) and not on a bar end cap. Or you can also mount them on stock, but once again you need to move the handle and controls inward, which is sort of a pain because you then have to either re-drill holes in the stock bar to accommodate the new location of the controls or shave the nubs down on the controls. There really isn't a quick easy way to install these mirrors on a fz07/fz09/xsr900 because they really don't make adapters as readily as available as CRG mirrors. Any CRG mirror adapters (including Rhinomoto) do not work because the groove/channel to take the mirror is too slim. The rizomas are much thicker than CRG mirrors.

I have Rizoma Reverse mirrors installed on my FZ07, and let's just say I wasted a whole bunch of time and money trying to find a way to install these. Ultimately I ended up going a unsafe route that I do not recommend.

Maybe things have changed since 2 years and there is an easier way to install those mirror, but I have no idea.

Rizoma knockoffs are MUCH, much easier to install than the real things.

Here are some thread in bar end mirror mounts that might do the trick on the stock bars.

RhinoMoto Barends Mirror Mounts For Yamaha FZ/MT Models | Motostarz USA | Motostarz.com

RhinoMoto Barends Mirror Mounts For Yamaha FZ/MT Models

These mirror mounts are designed specifically for Yamahas that have stock barends that screw into the bars with M16 threads, such as the FZ, FZR and FZ6R, and allow mounting of CRG barend mirrors. This 2-piece design consists of bodies CNC machined from billet steel and replaceable polymer buttons that act as the sliding surface. They utilize the same threads as the stock barends and an 8mm hex recess is located at the end of the body under the button so that that a hex key socket can be used to torque these to factory spec. The button then screws onto the body. Once mounted these have the same appearance as our other mirror mounts. This kit is offered in black powdercoated finish only, but with a choice of button style. Please select button style when ordering.

Kit 150-0100 contains 2 threaded mirror mounts with buttons, stainless fasteners for the buttons, installation instructions and 2 RhinoMoto logo stickers.

Thanks people!!...August BB, do you have a suggestion for some good Rizoma Knockoffs that would be easy to install?

I know I might regret this later since there will be more exhaust options rolling out, but I think I'm just going to pull the trigger on the akra carbon system.

Anyone else going to do the same?

Not for me. I don't like the idea of carbon on that style of bike. I'm going to hold out. Danmoto are now producing full systems that fit the XSR900, and cheap too. A few of the mufflers are quite retro-ish. Not necessarily performance enhancing but they look and apparently sound decent too. Something to think about.

Wow. That Danmoto stuff is cheap. Is it any good? I know the Akra stuff is pricey (maybe even OTT pricey) but generally good quality you can rely on.

Anybody tried this Danmoto stuff? Does it tend to fit?

Look not too bad, but WOW... that is cheap, even for the carbon. Danmoto seems to be a Hong Kong based outfit, so systems are certainly ex-China.
