Now I know this is a longshot, but I figured it was at least worth a shot. Would anybody in the US be willing to trade their black forks for my gold forks? I just wanted to see if there was any interest out there before I went with the vinyl route. Thanks!

Me thinks you'd have more of a chance winning the lottery.

Easiest way might be to check and see how much it cost to get the fork vinyl wrapped or anodized black. There are a few members on here who have had good luck with getting vinyl wrap installed. To get them anodized, you'll have to take the fork apart, which is ok if you are doing a fork rebuild already.

Thanks for the links! I am already planning on/have researched the vinyl method and am most likely going to go with that. However, I figured it could hurt to put some feelers out there, because I have heard it can be a pain in the ass.

I know that you have been able to buy carbon fibre fork wrap kits for dirt bikes. It's more of a solid wrap tube that goes around the fork tubes to protect it.

You could use the carbon fibre wraps for most of the fork, and finish off the top and bottom with some Plasti Dip to cover the last little bit of gold???

For example:

There is also this stuff from TrimBrite that sticks pretty good, just not sure how it would fork on the forks.

I have used it on my 09 in a couple of spots and it works pretty good.

Thanks for the links/pictures! If I could get those fork tube covers in matte black I would consider it. Regardless, I went ahead and ordered the 3M Matte Black Vinyl along with a cutting board and exacto knife last night. I will post up the process!

I really do like my gold forks, but that carbon look wrap would be really nice for accenting. Nice! Wonder if these would work?

The black forks on the 2016 black fz09 look horrible, they look great in all other colors but if I had that bike I would exchange for the gold ones once the other guy shows me a bill with a fork refresh on it :)

Yea I'm really not a fan of the black forks on the "raven" 2016. Looks fine on the 2016 blue I guess. I bought a 2015 specifically for the gold forks.

If only my wife liked my gold forks, I would swap mine for her black ones in a heartbeat. One thing I loved about my GPz750 was all of the blacked out stuff, including the forks.
