It happened to me twice already, that at toll booth my ez pass tag did not register. I use zip ties to strap it on the mounting bracket of my MRA screen.
I do not trust sticking the tag with the provided velco. And the screen's profile is concave. I don't see it could stay on.
Where do you mount yours? Any idea is appreciated.
Thank you.

Sorry, left out one detail. I think my tag sometimes failed to register because the facing angle is off. My handle bar already has a gopro mounted. Don't want to clutter the dash area too much.

Mine is in my tail bag.....Velcroed into an inside pocket facing up....it only failed to register one time since its been in there......when I had it mounted up front, it would only work like 10% of the time.

as long as you have the plate registered , it shouldn't matter , at least not in NJ and PA...they just charge my account the toll fee if it shows me running a toll

This won't be helpful but whatever.... In Sydney, we don't need to carry a tag as long as we have an account and the plate is on file with the tag company as a motorcycle. They know it won't register, so they just match the photo to the account for free for bikes.

I just put my hand over my license plate when I go through lol
Oh nice, you have the ghetto pass too. Lol. That's what my uncle calls it. I just fill out the slip (online) when it comes and they deduct it from my account

In Houston if you straddle the white line it won't take a pic. I throw my foot infront of the plate too for good measure on the off chance I take a toll road with no cash on me.

Here is where I put my community EZ gate pass. I used Industrial Strength Velcro, it can be found at Lowes. Mine hasn't moved since I installed it.

Thanks for the ghetto pass idea. Problem is some toll booths have lift gates even on "EZ pass" lanes.
I ended up have to rip tag off zip ties, gave to some toll collector guy who was extremely annoyed at me. He manually registered it.
Cager behind me was blowing honk and was all pissed off. Lol.

I never had a problem when I carried it in my tank bag. Then I got a second bike. I was required to obtain a separate EZPass for that bike. I didn't want to carry both in my bag and risk getting charged double. So I just put them under the seats. Later, I noticed on the Harris County Tollroad Authority website under my account was a message saying I had it mounted wrong and it wasn't registering (don't remember which bike). I moved it around a bit and haven't gone back to check on the message but they are charging correctly. I'm sure they are checking it against my plate. I like the idea of using the plate only like they do in Oz.

Do you guys think a toll pas transponder would work if mounted inside/under an aluminum flyscreen?
No, and I was told when I complained about it not working on my FZ-07 in Virginia that it was a problem even with tinted windscreens. I think it is more of an angle issue in most cases. The height needs to be above a certain minimum and below a max, but the face angle relative to the scanner was what my limited research told me was most often the problem when mounting to a bike. Get that slight upward angle, similar to a windshield mount correct and it works (sometimes).

In truth, it is a known problem that the smart tag/EZ pass powers-that-be don't really care to solve....and one of my greatest (riding related) pet peeves. Our sub-450 pound motorcycles are charged the same toll as a full sized SUV. And we pay the same gas tax rate as those behemoths as well. Think about that. We shouldn't be paying tolls anywhere, or at most a 25% portion of the standard car charge.

Of course, I would suffer this outrage with a smile...if they would just let us lane split. You know, like the REST OF THE RIDING WORLD (except Canada) gets to.

<End Rant>
