Hi,

I've kept a record of weight changes for my Gen3 MT09 - nothing fancy but saves 6.5kgs:

Lithium battery (1.051kg) replaces Lead-acid (3.094kg) and removes 2.04kgs.

Dominator exhaust (4.2kg) replaces original (7.1kg) and removes 2.9kgs.

Tail tidy removes net 1kg - original is two lumps of steel and some plastic, and the replacement is aluminium.

Remove EVAP canister -450g - in addition to removing the canister and rubber mount, and combining the tank tubes to one, the little solenoid can be reduced in weight be breaking it apart and removing the magnet so it is only the coil connected electrically.

Replacement 4 turn signals 95g – OEM 205g = -110g

Smaller front fluid reservoir, some titanium bolts ~50g

The two orange reflectors on the front wheel are another 110g.

Unfortunately, I've added almost as much with protectors, rear carrier, screen and other accessories.

How much did that 6.5 KG cost you?
I find it sort of amusing that you weighted those things you removed and replaced with lighter replacements but never included the price for them and also never weighted the things you added.

I didn't do it for the weight or the money - I got the bits cos I wanted them and measured the weight out of curiosity. But if someone wants to save bike weight, then the info might be interesting. 2 months of Atkins 20 might be better for others - worked for me and I lost 7kgs of pandemic flab :)

Net bike weight (yes I measured the additions too - read the last line of the earlier post again my friend) is less than a kilo under standard, that's insignificant - and about 60kgs over with a 46L box and the wife on the back.

Total accessory cost is about US$900 / HKD$7,000.

In HKD, the exhaust was the most expensive accessory at $3,500 iirc incl shipping (no VAT here),
the Givi rack was next at about $900,
the lithium battery is $500 cos I can get it from a supplier in China via a shopping site here called Taobao
the indicators, the tail tidy, the copy screen, frame protectors, extended fenders, bar risers, adjustable levers, ... all about $150-300 range
