Top speed limiter?!

So according to the comparison test by Cycle World (below), this bike is speed limited in 5th and 6th gears to only 132mph?! Who will be the first to "jail break" the speed limiter?? My SV1000 has a timing retard system in the lower half of the rev range in 1st-4th gears, but a guy figured out how to fool the bike into thinking it was in 6th all the time by putting a resistor in the gear indicator wire. Hello instant wheelies, but unlimiting top speed on the FZ should be just as simple?

White/Yellow is what I spliced with the Speedo Healer. The side to the speed sensor goes into the Healer, and the Healer goes out to the ECU. I traced the wire from the sensor to the ECU so that I could find a good place to tap into it. All of this leads me to the conclusion that something else is happening as in RPM ceiling in the ECU.

I haven't read through all this but I will say once I get into triple digits the front end of my bike gets sketchy. I hit the limiter but the front end felt like it could very easily go into a full on tank slapper. Steering dampener is probably a wise purchase.

please excuse my ignorance here, this is my first fuel injected bike, would a power commander give you the ability to bypass the speed limiter along with tuning out the bad throttle response in modes other than b mode?

A fuel controller help greatly (EJK, PCV... fuel tune only) to smooth things out. The flash is a step up. The flash tune about every engine parameters... including removing the speed limiter if you go with the Vcyclenuts $180.00 option (or any other flash tune option... but more expensive)

I personally use both. Dave flash my ECU and I use the PCV for better flexibility on tuning my bike. The EJK was doing a great job but I wanted to add the quick shifter from Dynojet. Then again its doable directly through the flash but I can't adjust the shift delay... was just easier to keep the PCV in place.

I sent my ECU to ECU unleashed, they claim to remove the speed limiter. I'll test it out for indicated top speed when the snow/salt gets off the roads here in WI. My 2011 FZ-8 did an indicated 161 with about a 20 mph tailwind, tach was in the red almost at the rev limiter if I remember right. And I was wrapped around the bike like a pretzel and I only weigh 150lbs mind you.

I topped out my coworker's mostly stock gsxr 750 (2010 I think it was) at 186mph indicated. She was still climbing fast so I think I hit the speed limiter.

Stock '11 Gixxer tops out at 162 mph. Only stock bikes that hit around the 180 mark are liter bikes. My R6s topped out at 164 before I upgraded them. My 07 R1 didn't even break 190 mph after modding it. I'd guess the motor on the FZ would top out in the high 150s, but it's certainly not designed for those speeds.

honestly, with no steering damper and no windscreen. This bike is brutal at high speeds. 120 on this bike feels way worse than 160 on my other bike. I have no reason to reach top speed. I find this bike is much more fun in the curves and anytime u get to make a quick maneuver. <<<< Spelling? Lol

Since this thread is not locked yet ill put my question here.

Today i hit 221 kph on my fz 09, i dont have a flash or anything to get rid of the limiter. my bike has a m4 and pc5, and modded suspension.

She was still pulling but i ran out of road.

So how can i hit 221 kph (137mph) when my bike should be limited to 212 kph (132mph)?

bought the bike brand new, has stock tires and gearing.
