Throttle drops between 4-5k rpms.

No matter what gear I am in, if I hold the throttle between 4-5k rpms, the bike begins to jerk due to the throttle dropping. It’s for a split second and then will do it over and over while in that rpm range. I have vcyclenut flash. Any ideas?

I belive all bikes have sort of a "dead zone". my bike does the same thing (2016 FZ09).I belive it's at 4000 rpms. If I try to keep it steady at 4000 it kinda limps out sorta say. I think you will hear from alot of people on hear say the same thing. I also have David's flash.

Have you gotten anywhere with this? I just had the same.exact thing happen to me. cruising along rpm between 4000-5000 and all of a sudden the bike started spuddering. First time ever happening . I'll give Vcyclenut a shout an see what he thinks.

was told this has nothing to do with a flash.
This doesn't sound right. I've never experienced this when cruising around town at 4-5k RPM with the OEM flash.

We are assuming both you and OPs bike ran well after the flash and now they do not. That would pretty much rule out a problem with the flash. So, did David give you any ideas on what to look for? Things like the little rubber nipples on the throttle body that dry rot in a short time or a leaking air box boot.
David is smart , super helpful and is your go to guy for this stuff.

Just curious, what is an "OEM" flash? Are you describing a stock ECU?
throttle position sensor

Yes, I meant stock ECU. Stock exhaust, ECU, air filter, etc. Have never experienced the issue described by OP and others in the thread.

It does sound like a TPS sensor issue

Doubt it has anything to do with the flash...I'm flashed and my bike is rock steady at ant rpm.
I fought the same issue.

Found this thread about condensation getting into the TPS and APS connectors. Seems to have solved my issues.

You will need to pull the tank and air box off, then I blew out the TPS and APS connectors, sprayed in contact cleaner, then blew them out again, let dry and finally add some dielectric grease before reconnecting the wires.

I hope this helps
