They only work in deep powder, so hard packed trails and frozen lake runs are a no go. The kits run you from $5600 to $6600 +tax, and that doesn't include installing the kit. Plus you need a bike on top of that. Probably cheaper to buy a used sled I am afraid to say, unless you are lucky enough to get lots of deep powder each winter.

Definitely needs a turbo to compensate for the weight IMO.
Cool project though, seems like it would best fit for someone not looking to take jumps.

I've contemplated putting one on my ktm 450, but as rocky mtn mentioned they are pretty unstable on packed or icy snow and also cost as much as a used sled. They look like an absolute blast though.
