I have approached Adventure Tech about making some fat sidestand foot pads for the FZ-09.
I have some on my Vstrom and I believe the only difference is the the Yamaha sidestand diameter is a little bigger.
Should be an easy adjustment to have em work on the FZ-09.they also increase the height which would also be helpful.
Best part is they are just $28.

not a bad idea. I imagine it would be a slip-on or something for when you need it, right? (meaning not always on the kickstand)
I have a plastic "coaster" that I use for asphalt and dirt...it was free at a trade show :D

SW Motech has already made a very nice crafted one for the European MT-09.
But like all the other accessories those dirtbag Norte Americano gringo's gonna have to wait!
That item addresses 2 problems: 1) a teeny weeny footpad 2) picks the bike up from laying over too far.
Some swing a leg when mounting and thats a problem if you have gear on back
I prefer to climb onto the bike with the bar locked full left and my hand on the brake.
With an elevated footpad this really helps this type of mounting
