I plan on doing some touring this summer including a 350 mile trip to Pennsylvania and an 800 mile trip to Michigan (2 day trip, 400 miles/day).

What are some good saddlebags that will fit securely on the FZ-09?

I can't remember the brand name, but I've seen them referred to as Bags Connection. Someone can probably clarify. It's a euro company that makes a soft bag with a really slick mounting system. Two small mounting points attach to the passenger foot peg mounts. Then you click in the support bars and hang the bags over the seat. Clean and secure system with a very minimal footprint when not on the bike. Thats what I plan on getting.

Edit: SW Motech Blaze saddlebags

I tried to use 36L saddlebags but you will need some mods to have a bar to prevent the bags from hitting the wheels. There are some threads on that.

The OEM saddlebag stays or the SW Blaze system are the same- and work well- the bags are much smaller though. If riding solo, why not try a topcase or one of those dirtsacks/tunnel bags that do not require extra mounts?
