Hey all, I ride a 2018 MT09 (USA) and was wondering if anyone can give me some info on oil, because I switched to amsoil oil, it's what I've always ran in my bikes and cars. My question is that the manual states the oil should be "API service SG type or higher" and I'm unsure if the amsoil meets this criteria. Only info I see about the amsoil is that it's API GL-1. The oil is already in my bike, and if this type of oil is wrong, I need to drain it.

Any one know about this sort of stuff? I also can't find details like that about yamalube. Reason I didn't use yamalube was because amsoil was a much faster pickup and plus I like it more.

Thanks for any help guys!

Are you using Amsoil MOTORCYCLE oil?

SG classification is right on the back of the bottle.

Pictures for reference.

Yes sir, of course I'm running the motorcycle oil lol, but I understand why you asked. I'm using the exact one that you posted a picture of. I never even thought to check the back of the container, thanks for that. Looks like I'm good.

GL ratings relate to gear lube (GL). This oil is suitable for both uses. Wait till you have to deal with VW oil specs.
