I just installed the S7 with the FZ-09 adapters and it is pinching the hand grip and causing the throttle to stick. The adapter instructions did not show to install a spacer. There is a 12mm spacer that came with the S7 but it spaces the mount out too much. Also, there is some side to side play in my throttle and it looks like it could move in some. Is this play normal or should I take it to the dealer to get it fixed? Thanks for the help.

My guess is you need a spacer to get the end of the throttle grip to clear the mounting bolt.

As the instructions say you may need to try a combination of mounting options to get it to work.

Or you might need a set of these adapters to install the guards.

And yes there is some side to side free play in the throttle tube. My 09 has about 1/16" side to side play, which is a lot less than other bikes like on my DR650SE which has almost 1/8" play.

When installed the handguards on my DR, there was a spacer for the throttle side so the grip did not drag. Different guards, but same idea.

Thanks for the reply. I do have the adaptor that you linked. I just bought a nylon washer to install on the throttle side and it works perfectly now.

I also noticed that by loosening throttle mount bolts, you can slide the entire throttle inwards to get the clearance between the bar end and throttle.

Thanks for clearing up the throttle side play. My 03 600rr never had side play so I thought it was strange when I got the FZ-09.
