Im not sure where it was but the other day someone said something about polishing their stock headers. How often do you do this? what product do you use? Mothers Mag and Chrome Polish?

Bingo. Mothers Mag polish and a microfiber towel. Works very well, very easy.

I use it to clean the entire exhaust in fact.

On this subject, what's a quick way to get the carbon deposits off the tip?

Mothers Mag Polish works well for me. Also cleaning chain grime from the catalytic. Bugs, water spots from the headers...

It may cure acne.

so far on the stock exhaust, I have been successful at wiping off any deposits off the exhaust outlet with lemon furniture polish that I use to wipe down the entire bike.

I just use some quick detailer and microfiber cloth after just about every ride to keep the whole bike clean, headers included (once cool of course) if there some really bad stuff on them I use rubbing alcohol and them detailer.

I'm somewhat tempted to polish the side of the converter with some Mothers metal polish and a green scotchbrite, not to a perfect shine, but smoother than it is. It will make removing chain lube fling and road grit that much easier.
