In order from oldest to newest over 2 years:

1991 XR250L AKA the beater

1998 XR400 (I miss this bike)

2008 DRZ400SM (fun except for the fact that it was a 5-speed)

Finally, my baby:

I see a WR250X or WR250R in my future with the FZ-09. Let's see your transformation!

Nice man! You had one of the rare new body style naked GS's. I think they only made them in '01 and '02. I started with a GS500 (2000). Then was in the market for a nightster. I wanted the olive green one, but ended up with the FZ09.
Wow! I didnt even know that they were rare. The guy I bought it from sold it to me as a 2002, with the fairing. Found out at the DMV that it was a 2001. Still a good deal. 10k miles, $1500. He had drilled into the frame. I ended up trading the fairings and headlight to someone on a forum, for the headlight bucket, to go back to naked.
I miss all my old bikes. Ive been contemplating selling the cafe to get back into a Harley again. But the cafe gets alot of attention, which I like. Kickstart only :D

yea i will stop threadjacking after this post but the model you had was 2001-2002 and actually called a GS500K. '89-'00 was called gs500e and had different tail/tank. 2004+ is the GS500F (fully faired version) and had an oil cooler. Otherwise the bike was basically the same from 1989-2009 when they stopped production. GREAT bike, solid reliability, and so so easy to work on. Kinda sad to see it gone.. I sold mine to a close friend so I see it almost weekly when we ride :)

My first bike, 2012 Suzuki TU 250x (bought new May of 2013)

My FZ, bought 5/1/14 has just over 4k miles on it now

I also picked up a 1985 Suzuki 550L for the wife's comfort on longer rides, she likes the back rest so that she doesn't feel like she's going to slide off the back. I don't have a picture of it available, so here's an accurate stock photo....
