Are these scanners worth bothering with? I’ve no problems with my 2021 mt09 but since buying a tool for checking the throttle bodies I’ve been looking at other tools for my garage, on eBay you can get them for as little as £21, 👍

If you only need a scanner once on either the car or bike they are definitely worth it. The dealer or garage will charge much more than the cost of the scanner.
I’ve just had a look at that Charlie it looks good, do you get everything you need with it? I’ve just renewed my insurance but my daughter works for the nhs so she gets abit of discount , thank you 👍
I like the Bluetooth dongles and software that allows you to see most of the PIDs that the ECM outputs. Simple code readers are OK, but if you actually need to see a datastream, using a generic scanner won't give you much info.
A dongle is a Bluetooth adapter that will link with your phone and depending on what scanner/dongle you purchase it allows you to use the correct Euro spec 3/4/5 adapter cable to connect to your bikes ECM and look at both codes and a data stream to assist in diagnosing a driveability issue.
You will need to download an app for your phone/computer that the dongle will communicate with.
I'm pretty sure there have been threads on which app seems to be best suited for your needs.
Thanks again gbauto 👍, dongles &apps etc go straight over my head 😊 but it sounds like it makes a more in-depth scanner, my son in law is into all this tech I’ll see him today to see if he could sort it.
It's funny how Foxwell told me that NONE of their units are motorcycle compatible. I gave the NT 301 and it absolutely does not communicate with my 2022 yamaha tracer 9gt. I emailed Foxwell and they confirmed that .
Unless there's something different about the Tracer compared to the MT or Foxwell have updated the 301 since I bought one a while back it should work for clearing the EML light and reading live data?
I had foxwell nt301 bought for me in September from Halfords and after reading this post I thought I better go check it works, thankfully it works on my 2021 mt09 sp.
I grabbed a used ANCEL BD310 last month, paired it with my phone, and it pulled throttle data and cleared the MIL on my buddy’s FZ-07 after a sensor hiccup. Worth every penny if you ride more than wrench.
I have been using the Vgate iCar2 Wi Fi OBD II Scanner for my bike’s ABS & lean angle data during alignment. Pairs instantly with my phone, reads live sensor data, and clears codes. Great tool for DIY calibration.
