I have only just noticed that my new Jan 2020 MT09 SP is shod with Bridgestone Battleax Hyper S20F tyres (tires). I thought Dunlops - often criticised here - were the standard. Does anyone have experience with the Bridgestones? I recall having that brand on a BMW R1200 GS aeons ago, and they were pretty good, so I'm not complaining now!...

My '18 (non-SP) came with the 'stones. Good traction but didn't last too long. I've been spoiled with the dual compound Diablo's.

The S20's are good tires, I wouldn't worry about using them for the first 2000 miles or so.

My MT-09 is a '19 and my son's MT-09 is a '20. His came with the S20's, mine came with the Dunlop D214's. The Dunlops were JUNK. Handling was MUCH better on the '20 with the S20's. I got rid of the Dunlop D214's before I even had 1k miles on them. I went with S22's, they are a step above your OE spec S20's but not giant difference like they were above the Dunlops.

S20's are awesome, IMO.

Just depends on what you're after.
Personally, I tend to get GT or Sport Touring tires.
Maybe one of these days I'll get a super soft race-y set just to experience it... But as an all season everyday rider, I need safety in wet conditions too.

these were my S20’s after a spirited ride up one of our mountains. They get pretty sticky at temp. I’m not the fastest dude, but I felt comfortable on them.

My '17 non-SP came with S20s. No complaints other than life and maybe wet weather performance. Wasn't bad, just not as good as the Michelins IMO.

My XSR900 came stock with the Bridgestone S20 tires. I thought they were decent at first as far as grip and handling but don't expect a lot of miles out of them. I'm probably a moderate rider and mine are toast at 4k miles! I'm sure the aggressive riders are only getting 3-3500 miles out of them. I think i will try Dunlop Roadsport 2 next.

Wordsmith- i recognize you from the Tracer forum. Your information about Bagster seats was a big help to me. Sure glad i ordered that seat for my Tracer GT.

Wait a minute......I wasn't paying attention........I thought you decided you were too old for motorcycles. What happened? You got a prescription for viagra and it changed your outlook?
