Pardon my ignorance, will shifting below the recommended RPM range damage the engine/transmission in any way? I notice the bike shifts much smoother around 6k RPM. But when I'm taking it easy I'll shift well below that range. Thanks

you just don't want to lug the engine - particularly when you're breaking it in, if you're riding at 3k RPM i wouldnt upshift... If you're having trouble shifting or not smooth - make sure the bike is in B-mode - get used to that then try standard - it will require a little more finesse if you have the stock ECU.

just feel it, you will know if your "lugging" it. High RPM's are good when your cranking out some hp. but otherwise you will know when its smooth around town. I do 3rd and 4th in town, maybe 4 grand on tach, depends. and I shift if I feel it.

What Fizzer said. This bike is pretty flexible shift wise. As long it ain't shuddering, you are not hurting it.
