Looks pretty damn good, 100 hp and 72 foot/pounds of torque with a wet weight of 538 pounds (no fuel), and only $10,999:

I'm glad to see it's water cooled - but the radiator is a bit in your face. And i would need twin discs up front for me to consider it.
i agree about the radiator but i do think it's a nice looking ride and nice power specs too. I'd buy it over a harley for sure.

Yoyodyne; do you feel okay? Have you suffered a fall? Seriously, regardless of my thoughts about cruisers, I physically can't ride them. If my feet aren't under me, and I'm not leaning slightly forward, I'm in pain. The main things that prompted my buying an FZ09 were its' lightness and ergos. I am pleased on both counts. I bought a Guzzi Stone when they first came out. I spent the first week end moving the pegs back, and making new shift linkages. I tried to make it a standard. It was an exercise in futility. I put 15k on the bike that year. I loved the engine, but couldn't get comfortable on it. I really took a hit selling it, as they're so uncommon. The running joke was; if you see two Guzzis in a parking lot, it's a rally! Short answer, I only allow myself to become enamored with bikes I know I can ride comfortably.

I was honestly surprised at the design, looks sharp!

I hope to ride one this weekend after checking out the H-D Livewire out in Seattle area. Should be a fun weekend.

At least Indian is doing some different stuff. Looks like a good first effort. We'll have to wait until someone actually gets to ride one. They'll probably sell a ton of em.

With the price tag and engine size, this is targeted at Sportster buyers.....and I really dont think they are going to be interested in this bike......

good point - if it was cheaper than the 1200 sportster you may see more people jumping ship (like what Yammi did with the Bolt compared to the 883). Given the specs are so similar - I would bet more people go with the harley just because of the brand recognition alone.

Damn...tough crowd! I don't even like cruisers but this thing gets me pretty stoked.
The color just doesn't do it for me... maybe a nice deep shiny black with those rad and side covers blacked out too...

This was the 1st I'd seen of the Indian here and it's...funny-looking.
Not funny, ha-ha. Funny strange.
Pass.
I'd get a Bonneville 1st. Way 1st.

The Harley crowd is a fickle bunch. The V Rods never really were as hot as they should have been. I ridden a couple and they are quick. But most one percenters would rather have the 100 year old flawed design bikes. Kudos to Indian ( Polaris) for a clean sheet design and not a clone. Time will tell if the Harley group will accept them or not. Anyhow DILLIGAF?

Similar specs? A 1200 Sportster makes 67 horsepower. This makes 100. How are the specs even remotely similar? This thing is to the Sportster what our own FZ-09 is to the 650 middleweights.

It's true. Harley appeals to a specific type of person that does not give a crap about engineering, about performance, or anything. They're specifically after the name and a very specific look.

Take it easy there champ. Torque specs are the same, couldn't find claimed hp for the sportster. Also looks like the Indian weight is about 30lbs less. Didn't think the 1200 sportster only makes 70 hp - I'll stick to sport bikes thank you.

I can get where you're coming from because I'm not a cruiser guy myself either. I don't feel safe on them because I find that the seating position and raked out front end rob me of the degree of control I'm used to. That being said, a lot of people who have replied to this thread more or less give off an "all cruisers are the same" vibe and that, to me, just seems extremely narrow minded.

The cruiser segment is pretty stagnant. The people who buy them typically don't care about specs, performance, or anything like that. You could build one entirely off of 1970s technology and nobody would know any better. This is not a good thing. If they want to try to pull people from other segments they need to inject modern engineering into them, and it looks like Indian is making a solid attempt here.
