Recently purchased an FZ-07 and going through the initial "discovery" period. I have a bunch of questions, but would appreciate an answer to just one at this point. I tried to remove the side panels on the fuel tank to gain access to the area behind them. I removed all visible screws etc., but can't seem to find them all. I don't want to damage anything, can anyone out there tell me where the magic fasteners are hiding. Thanks in advance. Richard

Hello, Welcome, and Congratulations. Glad you joined us! The FZ-09 has an unseen fastener in the center area of the air scoop that requires a pull for it to release. I suspect the FZ-07 is the same.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I found the "pull-to-release gromet", but it feels as though there is something holding tight at the top near the edge of the tank.

On the 09 there is a 'friction' fastener that just requires a pull to release it. A peg that fits into a hole. Snaps out, snaps in. Try pulling a little harder.
