The replies here are like wtf are people high? This bike makes power literally no where. lol. Mt 09 fs. I do like the weight. That’s all. Honestly can’t stand the sound either. Haha.
You're not wrong.

The Internet hyped these bikes WAY up and every wannabe hooligan jumped on the bandwagon.

It really is the fly by wire holding it back. I think the early bikes feel much punchier than the current models. My 09 is a '16. I also had a '16 FZ07. FZ07 had mechanical throttle and the torque was instant. A flash to unlock the throttle would help, but 850cc's is never gonna beat a liter bike.

Ok guys for real I want to love this bike but it really just no no torque in the low end I really think it has way more potential than this. This bike shouldn’t need to get to 9000rpm before it starts pulling. Is the ecu holding it back until 500miles? Do I need a ecu flash to let the fly by wire throttle loose? It’s got to be something. My jabs were just my frustration I am not trolling. I really want this bike to rip

In stock form, there are throttle restrictions in 1st and 2nd gear, especially bad in 2nd gear if you whack the throttle open from lowish RPM's. You'll need to reflash to get rid of these restrictions.
Even fully unleashed, it's never gonna quite rip like a full fat 1000. The 09's real advantage is light weight.

Get a good reflash, like Vcyclenut's, and if you still feel it's not enough, there are lots of other great bikes that make more torque/power. MT-10, Hornet 1000, Z H2, plus the Euro super nakeds if you're willing to deal with them.

Personally I'd love to try the Z H2 but it's a bit of a porker (like over 500 pounds wet).

P.S. If the bike really is not pulling well until 9000RPM, and not just you being melodramatic, then there could actually be something wrong with your bike.

Maybe post some vids of how the bike is behaving.

My question is how much do you weigh ? I'm at 180 and she starts to rip at 4 grand and thats on a 2015 ...

I watched something on YouTube about a turbo mt07 this morning. After a few fast bikes the novelty wears off. Half the time I’m riding on the street I probably be happy on the 07. I’m going to think about it anyway. When I’m chasing power it is really never enough. May as well get a Tesla it’ll beat most litre bikes. That’s if you’re into that kind of thing. There’s nothing wrong with it. Just saying

Honestly, I think that everyone enjoys a warp speed blast once in a while, but something with 150+ hp is an absolute handful trying to put the power to the ground.
I've found that 100-120 hp is more than enough to get my freak on without constantly feeling I almost died...

There's a lot to that. I don't like playing where other traffic and the cops hang out. To cut loose 150+ hp bikes requires a highway. Highways are no fun.

Similarly, no more 65-70hp dirt bikes for me anymore. They just wear you down. 45hp feels good, I'm faster than ever and I can go all day without getting fatigued by holding the bike back all the time.

My BMW is over 165hp and this is accurate. Everything on this bike happens so much quicker than on my FZ by comparison. You can let loose the bike on the highways, or on back roads between each turn where the road is straight, just means you're going to need to be good on the brakes. The forces you feel are incredible and very addicting. The wind alone wants to rip your head off at 150mph.

There is something really satisfying about riding the FZ09 hard, because you really need to earn it. The 1000's are like a cheat code: Twist the loud handle and off you go.

The new lithium batteries are out and the stark barges 80hp is real. Ktm 450 has 60hp and weighs less but it won’t be long. The Technology is already there. A button will end up the only difference in power. We have space ships 🚀 in theory if people want to set off. But what’s the point of any of it if everyone can’t have one. Like the internet if no one was is on it. All recorded history is in the genes. Just a 3d representation of a 2d world and so on. I don’t have a 3d printer yet but I’m guessing all the information is stored in a flat screen with lots of 1s and zeros. We’re still fire and wheels so make the most of it while it lasts. 😜
