Miles per tank?

So far I only have about 400 miles on my 25 09. Between 100* temps & a lot going on the miles are adding up slow. I have no idea what to expect for mileage on a full tank once the engine is broken in.
I was wondering what members are getting out of a full tank of gas? I know different styles of riding are going to show different amounts but I'm curious to see what high & low amounts are.

50mpg US - 4.7L/100km average
This is fully loaded and commuter (B) mode.

125mls/200km and then 1.1 gallon US/ 4L
left in tank

less than 45 mpg if I go play it and wot it

Hopefully, they finally fixed the mode button on the Gen 3.
I have to wear my gloves when I try to use the mode button, because it hurts my thumb too much trying to get the button to depress.

To my way of thinking the knee cutouts in the MT and FZ-09 tank is unnecessarily generous for perhaps Wilt Chamberlain sized riders. Without that giant knee indent, I bet they easily could have gotten another gallon and a half in there. I wonder if it's so they can cite a lighter weight with "Tank full". I too would appreciate a bigger tank. Had a couple of scares when out in the middle of nowhere - coasted most of the way down a mountain (idling to keep lubrication flowing in the internals)

Based on an online conversion table, 14 Litres = (UK Gallons), 3.0796. From a full tank, I can get 130 miles before the lone final bar. I have to ride carefully though, I live near an always traffic-heavy part of town..It's a short ride to the main road, and I've found @4000RPM seems the most frugal on a long trip. A simple calculation makes this 42 +/- UK MPG. However, how much is available in the last bar is the interesting part. Assuming you have another 20 miles, that would make it 48 MPG. Which kind of makes the computer 72 MPG seem stupid. What would be interesting though, is for someone to actually run out of fuel, re-fill completely, measuring as they go, so that the correct capacity is known.

Back when I had my 2014 FZ09. Yep that was an old one. I would fuel plan 130 miles and I better be near a station. I never stretched it where I had to sweat fuel. I did enough fuel sweating in my early corporate jet career. Flying under performing jets from the east coast to the west coast would have your ass puckering and sweating. Behold one of the under performing turds. And yes that would be a Hawker jet just like my forum moniker.

When I got my 2014 FZ09 I purposely ran it dry. It ran 16 miles after the fuel meter started flashing. Once stopped, I added 1/2 liter of fuel, rode about 1 mile to a fuel station and put 3.5 gallons in it all the way to the top so the fuel was right at the bottom of the filler neck. The 3.5 gallons includes the 1/2 liter I put in it when it ran out of fuel. With a now full tank, I ran it all the way to flashing fuel meter again and got to 128 miles when the fuel meter started flashing. Refilled to 3.3 gallons.
128/3.3 = 39mpg. Occasionally, I will get 42mpg but 39-40 is the norm.
This is normal riding, not hammering on it.

my buddy and me both have Gen4 SPs.
He consistently got 10% or so more range from a full tank. But our consumption was always very similar.
Then could only be one reason -- he was getting a litre or more extra into the tank..
To fill the Gen4 tank you need to be very patient with the Fill.
When you think it's full --- it probably is not.

Keep filling up the tank neck, watch it bubble and trickle into the tank, repeat Three or Four times.
I have only once had fuel out of the over flow pipe.
Keep trickling it in until it stops bubbling.
We consistently see high 50mpg on our normal 250mile(ish) days out.
Our plan is to fill up around 160/170 miles -- and use the Range function.
We have always found it very accurate -- but keep checking as it can "wobble about a bit" on twisty /up/down terrain with lots of gear changes.

Just my experience -- others may find different.

So if he got 53 miles on reserve that would mean almost 1 full gallon for reserve. Total of 219 would come out to 59 miles per gallon including reserve. I'm surprised. That would be great if I could see that kind of mileage.

I don't get anything like that on my gen 1. More like 40 mpg. Are you sure you're not talking kilometers per gallon?

You probably can, if you rode your bike the way he does. Just glancing through some of his videos, it looks like he just cruises around, barely even touching the throttle, and shifts like they recommend in the owner's manual, LOL. His bike also appears to be stock - cruising around on a stock bike at low RPM's will have the FI cutting way back on fuel.

i can confirm that my gen4 SP consumption shows 59 miles per gallon.
6,019 miles on the bike in the year i have had it and that's the regular consumption.
Y'all do have bigger gallons across the pond though. Your 59mpg is 49mpg for us.

Having finally figured out some of the electronics on the bike, I set one trip meter for distance on rides & the other one on miles between fill ups. The last time I filled up I had about 140 on the meter & the bike took about 2 1/2 gallons. Most of my rides are on back roads where 35 to 45 MPH is the average, with a few stretches at highway speeds depending on where I'm going to ride. I have noticed that when I do take it up to highway speeds (55 to 65) for a longer stretch the milage goes down by quite a bit.
Unfortunately, I won't be riding much longer. Winter is just around the corner & when it gets cold "they" put ground up lava on some of the roads around here. So even if the weather is good the roads are not bike friendly. Hopefully it will be a long fall season.
