M4 Slip On - Anyone Buy One In Canada?

7641 Views 20 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  TT_FZ
Hi!

Just wondering if anyone has bought an M4 slip on through a Canadian retailer/supplier? I've seen lots of availability from US retailers but with the state of the dollar and the cost of shipping ($70+ USD!!) I'd like to try to buy from something local-ish first.

Thanks for your time.

Buy a Hindle and save the exchange!

I got mine from motostarz. Was about $550 and free shipping. The exchange rate is so bad your better off buying from a Canadian supplier.
+1 for Motostarz or Bayside Performance
I was considering an M4 until I read their installation instructions recommending repacking every 5000 miles??

Now considering a Hindle or Akro Carbon.
Thank you, sir. I had read some discouraging reviews of Motostarz but I'll reconsider and most likely end up ordering from them.

That's the idea! No sense paying another 30% for the same stuff + Shipping

My primary concern is safety...then cost. The M4 seems like the best "budget" alternative to a full exhaust swap. Thanks for the recommendation though!
In the past, Hindle often have a booth at the big bike shows in Toronto, and have some pretty good discounts. There's a bike show next weekend at the international center.

In Toronto on kijiji there's an add for a local seller of the M4

Hindle is local, they North of Whitby. They have good products, i wasn't aware they had something for the FZ09. Just looked at the catalog, full system for 525 plus tax.

That Kijiji add price is about 20 more than what I paid all in but no need to wait for delivery if they have it in stock. If they don't have it in stock still always better to support local.

Thank you! Turns out they're fairly local....and their website has a list price of $629. I'll give them a call today.

Looks like 525+ tax + muffler (~$350). I'd go for the Hindle over the M4 if price was comparable.

ah I didn't realize that - I was finding it too cheap for a full system.

M4 is still the way to go - However I like a quiet exhaust and this thing IMO is loud even with the DB killer

I feel you. I'm getting a little older now and loud isn't always better. Unfortunately I live in a part of the city where no one seems to care that there are others on the road so I'd like the bike to be a little bit loud so that people know I'm in the area. :)

if anyone else is interested...I just called them. They said they'll honour the price in the ad for another 24 hours. I'll be meeting them at their brick and motor location tomorrow to order.

Thank you for the heads up.
I'm glad it worked out for you! I'm a kijiji stalker, and knew about that ad for a while.

For anyone else, my memory is fuzzier in my old age, but I think Hindle do 20% off list at the bike show if they are there.
And yes as someone pointed out above, technically you buy the headers and muffler separately.

Elka have FZ09 rear shocks and are another Canadian manufacturer, if you are looking for a shock upgrade without getting screwed by the current price of the Canadian dollar.
Put in an order at Dynamic Cycle Parts this afternoon. They honoured the sale price at $578 + tax.

~2 weeks turn around time quoted on shipping/receipt.

We'll see what happens!

Hi Killyin,
I'll be interested to see what your experience is with this. I'm considering buying the M4 slip on as well given I can get the pipe AND a power commander for less than a full exhaust.
I got a call on Friday (April 7th) from Dynamic Cycle Parts saying that the pipe was in. My girlfriend picked it up for me on the Saturday. No hassles. I'd deal with them again in the future.

Haven't had a chance to get it on the bike yet...probably next weekend.

No trouble so far in dealing with Dynamic Cycle Parts. I'll end up with the pipe on the bike before doing anything with the ECU/Power Commander though. I'm thinking I'll go the VCycleNut flashed ECU route over the Power Commander though. A quick shifter is in my future :)

I've been thinking about a quick shifter, too. I'll end up with my flashed ECU (vcyclenut) back in the bike before I get my M4

Man, that's not far off what I paid for a full Hindle CF system. I think I paid $785 + tax.

Quick calc based on the prices listed on the site came out to about $1000. You must have gotten a pretty good deal.

Header/Mid - $524.95
Muffler - $349.95
Taxes - 13%

Comes up to something like $988.xx

A bit more than I wanted to spend right now. :)
