I have only had my MT09 for 6 days. I received a welcome email with a 10% discount coupon and this line was in the email. "Don't forget to follow all manufacturer guidelines with your machine so that you can enjoy it as long as possible and keep it running in tip top shape." I asked the finance dude, "Can anything void my warranty?" Adding mods they do not sell and install or anything foolish. What are themanufactuer guidelines? Can I get a list or something?

Did you by chance get the Yamaha insurance policy?
Previously, the program was called "Y.E.S" (Yamaha Extended Service) but now seems to be called "G.A.P" (Guaranteed Assistance Program). Looks like regular gap insurance to me, and I'm not sure if the Y.E.S plan still exists.

There were stipulations on engine oil and other things that would cover you in the off chance you had a claim.

Here is some information about all that:

If you did not add this extra coverage, then it won't apply and you'll be subject to the regular terms/conditions of the manufacturer's warranty.
Did you get any paperwork from the dealer?
I'd start with that info first.
If you didn't, I'd make the dealer get it to you in writing.

For service manuals you can purchase them here:

I only have the limited warranty. No yes or gap.
I will check my paper work.
Thanks

FYI: adding modifications cannot void your warranty unless it leads directly to the issue causing the warranty claim. You're protected under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. In order for them to deny coverage, they would have to prove your mod caused the problem.

Do what you want.

Mr Case is right. But it could be a drawn out and expensive process to prove them wrong if they claim that a modification caused a failure. Engineers reports etc.
