I saw this guy kenstomoto on facebook he have his gen3 mt09 using gen2 mt09 mudguard , its looks really nice . Anyone know how to install it ?

No its not enough space for rear axle to install the mudguard as i see

Ok, don't know about that bike. Maybe you can get a picture from the right angle? I run a mud guard from ktm and made some modifications to it, not the prettiest but functional 😁.

The gen 2 bikes that came with those have a longer axle and different axle block than the first gen.

If those parts will fit your swingarm, all the parts are available from Yamaha.

By doing this mod, you are increasing the sprung weight that the shock has to deal with.

i think he made whole new axle with cnc machine. How about gen 2 axle ? can they swap ?

Got it. I was thinking there was a bracket that fits the OE axle and then mount the mudguard you want to that🤔

What is more interesting I think, is that he has attached the akrapovic from Gen 2 to a Gen 3. I would like to see how that worked out and what kind of mods it needs, as I was thinking of doing it and I still do.

Gen 3 axles are larger diameter, so you can't simply swap in a Gen 2 axle.

As for the Gen 2 Akra, to get it to fit, he had to fabricate a replacement bottom frame cross member as well as a shorter dogbone, because otherwise there isn't enough clearance. A longer radiator bracket also had to be fabricated for header clearance - take a close look, the radiator is sticking out further forward (he blocked off the gap with panels).
