I fitted some Evotech Performance rear pillion blanking plates; and took the time to weigh what I had removed. Useful weight saving! I will never carry a pillion while I own this one ...

The Evotech quality is amazing, fully CNC milled with a top chamfer that blends in beautifully

It all adds up. A big weight reducer is a lithium battery.

I forget who it was, but a member here got his 09 under 400 lbs. An owner on my DR650 replaced his steel frame with aluminum and drilled holes in his rotors and even the seat pan.

Titanium nuts and bolts are half the weight of stainless and carbon steel, but also very expensive.

We can't do that here. The yearly Warrant of Fitness inspection requires pegs if there is a pillion seat.

I am really grateful for this comment as I hadn't even considered the legality .... turns out in the United Kingdom it's a fail on an MOT (Yearly basic fitness evaluation) though plenty of evidence that its not noticed. Given its a 3 minute job I'm leaving them in the bag ... Plus MOT is only on bikes 3 years and over so I have 2 year 11 months to worry about it

I was tempted to take them off between WOF's. Most cops here are too dumb to know they're legally required.

What if you have a rear set cowl over the seat. Would it be legal then to remove the pillion footpeg assemblies?

I think so, with the cowl on no one can sit on it.
