I recently purchased a 2016 Yamaha tracer 900, I bought the bike with the ABS light on n was told it had a bad front wheel sensor. Recently the TCS light began blinking n bike developed some what of a miss so I switched off the TCS n it rode normal, but lately I've noticed my speedometer would be working fine and the bike would have all its torque with just a touch of the throttle the front would come up easily!!! then all of sudden although the rev meter works fine the actual speedometer would read zero then the bike would loose some torque n would ride like it does not have full horse power (the front won't even come up in first gear)

Something tells me it has to do with the front wheel sensor.
I have already cleaned both front and rear senors as well as the rotors and the bike would start of great then the problem would start again.

What makes me more confused is today I met a friend who rides 2019 mt09 and his front wheel sensor was not even connected but his speedometer still worked and without the tcs on his bike ride fine.

What sensor is responsible for the speedometer n if the sensor is not the issue then what is?

And I also added a new exhaust don't know if that can cause the issue?

I'm not positive (hopefully someone here will correct me if I'm wrong)but, the speedometer reads the speed from the transmission output shaft and not a wheel sensor, that's why when you change sprockets the speedometer doesn't read correctly.

It confuses me when you say the previous owner said the wheel sensor was bad. Then you say you cleaned the sensor and it still doesn't work... we're you expecting anything different?

It always pays to clean sensors and such first. It saved us $1200 for a new BCM on one of our cars. The indicators started doing weird flashing, like all 4 at once, different frequencies etc. The dealer said it was the BCM, my brother said clean all the bulb contacts.
He was right, they worked properly after cleaning and never faulted again.
