Come to find out how strong the frame was when a friend crashed my bike on The Fast Side of Palomar.

Bent the front end, turned the front wheel 90 deg. and even broke 1 upper fork tube.

The BST CF front wheel was apparently a lot stronger, with no ill effect.

The neck of the frame was twisted 1 deg to the left, which was 1/4 inch off center on the ground.

Was able to straighten the neck. Frame is pretty strong in the neck area.

Used a 1 3/8 inch chromoly solid 4 foot long bar pulled with a come along.

Had the remove 4 motor mount bolts to allow frame to bend enough to spring back to center.

Scored a nice orange metal flake tank ( Original was red ) , lower tree, and misc parts from Ebay.

Had another set of Ohlins forks from a Ducati Multistrada already in my parts stash.

Bent the bar about 6 inches in the process, but the bike is dead nutz on, now and back on Palomar.

What happened to your friend. If the wreck did not kill him did you?
Skinned up his knee a bit.

Didn't have any disinfectant, so we used a bit of Vodka on the abrasion.

Wore Levis instead of leather that day.

I came out about $ 5000 ahead after the insurance payoff and still have the bike.

Pics on my computer at the ranch.

Will have posted next week.

Chris it sounds like you still have your FZ09. Do you still ride your FZ07?

I remember when all of us stopped at your place on the big San Diego ride. You followed us up the mountain on the FZ07, with your Go Pro shooting a nice vid as you weaved your way to the front of the pack.

And that was in spite of a bout of Montezuma.

How ya been?

Umm...no you won't come out ahead. Your insurance will recoup their loss through increasing your premiums. DAMHIK.

Edit:. Unless crash was from another at fault driver.

Friends don't let friends ride their bikes. Well not out of sight anyway.

All good, here.

Shook the Montezuma the same day with some Yogurt with probiotics.

Supposedly won't affect premiums. Have a couple of dozen bikes insured with Allstate.

Zero deductible due to over 5 years ( 17 actually ) with no claims.

I was behind him , with Go Pro.

He had Go Pro running as well.

3 of us.

1st guy on BMW S 1000 r lowsided on some sand inside a tree shadow, so he didn't see it.

I had already slowed down when 1st guy went down, but my guy didn't react as quickly.

Well that is the difference between you and me. At the most at any given time I have three bikes insured. You are a revenue stream they don't want to loose.

OK. That's a bugger then. Still friends I guess.
