Regarding the engine light warning. It àppeared while riding and hasn't gone away. I have done the ECU recall back in October and the bike was fine until today. I don't think it's Ecu related. I have no symptoms of the bike running bad. Other than I can't change driving modes or adjust settings from the menu screen. Any ideas ??? So my engine light randomly cane on while riding, did the recall and also have my ecu flashed , took it to the dealer, and every single code popped up, they just cleared it, bike is fine. He did ask if I changed the battery which I did when the oem one died , got an aftermarket brand because it was much cheaper. And yea buy the diagnostic tool and check it urself and clear it. Weird though because my bike had been flashed and had that aftermarket battery for months.

there is old codes and new codes, the diagnostic reader will tell you what are old and new. Seems like they made it seem like they were all current but im sure they were not.

old codes are stored until cleared with a tool. the light wont be on but they are stored in the ecu so I tech can retrieve them to help them diagnose an issue. Flashing the ecu and the battery dying will cause old codes to be stored. Anything that causes a check engine light then clears on its own will store a code.

current codes are when the light is on

hope that clears it up a bit

So is what i was told about the 1st gen correct, that you can’t connect a scan tool through the obd port? You can only check and clear codes through the diag menu, at least on the U.S. models
