Iactually kind of like having the popping on decel. My Hindle exhaust is on it's way, and I sent my ecu to Vcyclenut. My original plan was to leave the AIS on. But I started thinking and have some questions I haven't been able to find direct answers for.

Does the flaming pop damage the muffler?

Would it significantly increase the rate at which the glass packing burns out?

Is there any chance the pop would backfire into the exhaust ports on the head and cause extra engine wear in any way?

My friends at Dobeck performance used to own dynojet, invented the Dynojet dyno and do tons of testing and programming. They have told me that they do not believe that the AIS causes engine damage, but that the resulting flames could do exhaust damage over an extended period of time. While I kind of liked the sound of decel popping, I eventually installed block off plates to eliminate one thing to worry about.

I also disconnected my O-2 sensor as I run an EJK fuel controller.
