I am a fan of the seat concepts approach and at about $150 its a pretty good deal. If 150 is too much, then I would try cuttin the foam a bit to reshape it.
The best add on cushion I have seen is the air hawk.

It may not look great but it may be a cheap way to avoid the PIA on longer rides.....My only concern aside from appearance is being able to move around on this seat pad while at speed....Only one way to find out....I'll have it in a few days.

I had one of these on my KLR650 for almost two years. It looked a bit goofy. But, worked great!
I modified the straps by melting tiny holes in them with a heated wire and then used very short sheet metal screws to fasten them to the underside of the seat pan. That held the straps in place and made it easy to remove the cover for cleaning up the bike, etc... In a bizarre coincidence, the cover/pad closely matched my Avon Gripster tire tread. LOL

That said, I got a Seat Concepts foam and cover kit for my FZ and love it. =)
