California Chevron Gas Stations Not FZ-09 Friendly?

Anyone have trouble fueling up at Northern California Chevrons? Maybe the nozzle is to long or something, but whenever I go to refuel at a Chevron it doesn't work. Maybe the seal isn't properly made or something like that because when I stick it in the fuel tank it goes about 3/4's of the way in and the upper portion kinda sticks out. I tried it at four separate Chevron locations and none seem to work for me. The best places I found are Shell gas stations where their nozzle fits all the way inside my tank and forms the seal, and Arco's gas stations where it doesn't QUITE make the seal, but it still works.

ANYWAYS... anyone else has the issue?

I might try that, because once or twice I totally lost track of my fuel while I was enjoying riding and I took a peek down and noticed I was on one bar for who knows how long. Only station around me was a Chevron and I couldn't get it to work at all. So I crossed my fingers and looked up the nearest station and luckily it was only 10 miles away, but I managed to make it

I had exactly the same issue - especially Chevron, but also Shell stations. The vapor recovery thing expects to seal on the tank filler - which it does on cars.
Can't on a bike, and many bikes (my Beemer for example) you can push in and it effectively holds back the "foreskin" as described above.
There is a small plunger inside that thing that allows the pump to build pressure and deliver gas. If you pull back the shroud it works - same when filling portable gas cans for the track.

It's bad enough that CA Government thinks they are chemists and tell the fuel companies the formula they must sell without this vapour recovery stupidity.
The entire country pays for that lunacy - CA fuel prices drive up the cost for the other more sane states.
Let's lobby to have Jerry Brown sentenced to suck all the fumes up through his big mouth.

The nozzles are made in Russia, therefore they are Communist nozzles just like the communists that run our once great state.

They were designed to stop any fumes from escaping and destroying the ozone layer... yea sure buddy.

So as was suggested you stick the end into your tank then grab the rubber and pull up on it. Then it will pump gas.

This is also why all California bikes have a charcoal canister vapor recovery system installed.

I removed mine so now when I top off the tank some gas will pee out on the ground....relax Margaret, we are not destroying the planet.

I call it my salute to Al Gore.
