A Sacrilege amongst the proud members here and the fact that this is a Yamaha forum, I proudly present my new ride. The Can Am Spyder was sold today and this is what is taking it's stall in the barn.....

2023 Suzuki GSX-S1000GT+ This was a new model for Suzuki in 2022 and it is drawing very good reviews in the Sport Touring groups. It's not the perfect bike, but I think it will fill in a nice spot for Peg and I riding Two up. Hard, detachable side bags, three drive modes, Traction Control, that is 5 way adjustable or can be turned completely off, ABS, Cruise Control, Fully adjustable front forks, Quickshift up/down, and a modernized GSX-R K5 motor and transmission.

All I read was that you’re gonna ride as slow as me at the ECR in June.

Welcome back to the fold of proper motorcycles.
Thanks Brent.....I wanted to be kind of like the Harley guys, without actually owning a Harley, so I bought one that I could creep around a corner then nail it in the straight sections.........VROOOOOM, VROOOOOM

Hopefully, I still remember how to ride one. The last time I threw a leg over the saddle of a "proper" motorcycle, was back in 2019 before I sold the FZ09! Scary huh!

You can still use hand signals when turning and blip the throttle 5 - 6 times slowing down for the turn and another 3 -4 through it. Good luck with the Suzuki.

Nice. I had a good run with Spewzukis, had 4 before the 09. If I was still touring that would be on the list too.

It looks exactly like what an MT-10 based sport tourer would should look like, so at least you got a bike that looks like a Yamaha! 😎

Too bad Yamaha doesn’t make a Tracer 10… 😕

Nice bike, did you back to back it against the Ninja1000SX? Congrats.
We found a dealer about 2 or 3 months ago that sold Suzuki and Kawasaki and they had a 2022 GT+ on the floor, as well as the Ninja1000SX. We were able to sit on them both, back to back and get a feel for the fit. We didn't do test rides, but it was nice to find them both in one place and go back and forth several times. In the end, the GT+ fell a little roomier for us for two up riding. They were very similar in pricing too, except that the hard bags were extra on the Ninja and I don't think they were quite as big as on the Zook. By the time I got the Spyder sold, I couldn't find a Dark Blue GT+ anywhere close to me, so I started looking at the 2023 models. I really like the Triton Blue for 2023 and I found a dealer that had one in stock, AND was charging the same price as the 2022 models, even though there was a $300 price increase from 2022 to 2023. They also don't charge for freight and setup like almost every other dealer does, so I figured that amounted to almost $1000 less than I could have gotten it for at other dealers....and it is a 2023. Win/Win

Lou,

I missed your return after the big blow. How’s everyone doing down there? Good to have you back.
Thanks. All good here. Natures BJ missed our city. Story of my life really:D
But there'll be a major clean up for a long time in the affected areas. Unfortunately Hawkes Bay is NZ's fruit bowl and a major wine region. Most of it has been wiped out.

Glad you’re okay. I was imagining your new retirement home being blown away. You survived that big earthquake in Wellington too when you lived in Nelson. Probably some good riding routes closed off as well.

Terrible about the wine industry. Was the Marlborough region affected? We like to buy our Sauvignon Blanc from there.

Personally, I find posting a Suzuki to be far less objectionable than a Can-Am. :D People like them, my neighbor has one...they're not for me though. As far as Can-Am goes, they are a big step up from a Slingshot...WTH?

Marlborough is fine, a long way away. We've been very lucky, not a scrap of damage from storms or earthquakes.
But, this storm has been way overhyped by the climate change crowd. It's far from the worst, and far from the wettest. In fact, major storms have become less common since the mid 20th century.
The real problem is man made. We have so much exotic forestry in NZ now and felling practices are very shoddy. Most of the damage is from slash, which is the rubbish fellers leave behind.
That created dam points in the rivers, increased pressure on bridges till they gave way, and basically swept away everything in it's path.
