As I was replacing the stock air filter I noticed the air box top looks a little different than the ones I've seen. After doing a little research it seems it's the Helmholtz/Resonance chambers that are missing on both sides of the filter.

It's a 2017 FZ09 I purchased brand new from a dealer in April. My question is will this affect performance or is this just a noise dampening function? I plan on contacting the dealer when they open up on Tuesday but was just going to pick some of your brains on the forum until then. Thanks!

I spoke to a parts person at the dealership I purchased from and they mentioned it may be a difference in the California version due to stricter regulations. Not sure I believe that and they didn't know or wouldn't say what those chambers are responsible for (performance, emissions, noise, etc.) unfortunately. Just wanted to list what the dealership said.
