Hi guys,

I’m new here and I don’t know if someone else has already asked the same thing or not.

I have the 2021 MT09 and have already put 2000km on it. I’m looking to put a full system on it, but the only available full system is from Akrapovich. I really don’t like how they made the system with the muffler installed that high so I need to look for other options. I would like to have something similar to the older models where the muffler is under.

Do you know about any other brands that have released anything for the 2021 MT09?

I'm also interested in an after market exhaust as long as it's in similar position as stock. Under or hidden on the bike. The stock is IMO ugly as f#$k. The cost cutting on this bike isn't as evident just from pictures. Or maybe I just haven't owned a modern bike in awhile. I'm getting crash bars for this reason. I imagine this bike exploding into a million plastic pieces if there's an unfortunate collision with a car or just dropped. I've only had my SP for about a week now. Cheers!

So you got an SP??? Where do you live? I thought no SPs until August. I was about to buy a KTM 890R for a lot more than an SP, because didn't want to wait that long. I looked into a regular 09, but I was also disappointed at how cheap it looked, especially the unfinished headlight plastic. Ultra cheap looking. Is the SP one at least smooth plastic?

The seat also looked no better than my first bike's back in '84 (CB700 Nighthawk S). But at least the SP has it better upholstered, but I'd replace it immediately with the comfort one anyway. Don't like it blue, but I guess I can overlook that.

Hey, how do you like the suspension? I might wait for a comparison of the SP with the 890R before buying anything.

Yes. Southern California received their inventory about 3 weeks ago. Now it looks like the rest of the states have received some now. I was told by some dealers that because of demand or inventory that dealers are only getting 2 bikes at a time. They acted like they didn't have much control over what they received.

Honestly, it's still a budget bike. SP or not. But I do like the improvements. Quickshifter. Drive modes.. etc.. suspension also. I took mine to a shop called Suspension Matters in my area to have a professional tune it for my style of riding and weight. Factory set up was for a giant. It was stiff af.

The ride is better now since they set it up. I could have done it myself but. I'm no Dave Moss 🤭 If I had the money, I would have gotten that KTM. Its premium price is justified by its premium parts. IMO. With that said, I would have been just as happy with the standard model MT09. I Only got the SP because it was what was available. I wanted the black or blue one and the dealer only had grey or the SP.

Yeah I personally like the tucked in look of the stock pipes on the previous gen MTs. On my FZ I had the newer Akra Ti because of that, and because it wasnt too loud.

But honestly from the all the videos I've seen the new MT has a great sounding stock pipe and intake. Now if somebody in the aftermarket just made an under cowl to cover up the look of it...

Or how about a tucked in exhaust that looks like the ones on their Motogp bikes - big slash cut with mesh over it.

I just pre-ordered the new Yoshi yesterday. I hummed and hawed about the other two offerings I know (Akra & Arrow), but the low mount Yoshi just looks the best IMO. I loved the R77 I had on my MT-07. I do wish they had released a Carbon variant of the new 09 exhaust but alas, I can always switch the exhaust out later if Yoshi or one of the other manufacturers starts producing something more attractive.

I pre-ordered my Yoshi exhaust in early July and asked them when should I expect it to arrive, they told me it would ship in October. I just emailed them to ask when the ETA was once more and they told me it would ship in early January 2022. I’m not saying I regret pre-ordering it, but the long wait definitely sucks. Sure, the stock exhaust isn’t horrible sounding, but people on the road don’t hear me, which is extremely dangerous, especially here in South Florida. I hope the new ETA doesn’t change. Sucks to be me.

I don’t necessarily mind a high exhaust by any means, I just think the kink in the swing arm is only properly filled up by a muffler.

Yoshi did a really good job of that (granted it probably wasn’t that difficult to fit with it being an off-the-shelf muffler).

Between the Akra and the Arrow, I would definitely take the Arrow because at least that’s available in “mid” mount configuration that doesn’t have the weird bend that looks out of place.

Also, @RedSprankles, I’m sure you probably already noticed this in your order confirmation, but under where it says that you’ve ordered a part this is pre-order only, it does mention that you can email them to get an ETA.

Seemed like a boilerplate message to me just to cover their butts, but I may email them and get an idea.

Now we just need that ECU cracked! I suppose at least Dynojet has the Power Commander V available for the ‘21’s but I’ve never really been a fan of piggyback management. Really want Woolich or FT-ECU to announce that they’ve cracked it 😂

The yoshi to me is definitely the best option... I've been in touch with Woolich and they are on the case, would be interested to see if anyone will be able to adjust the quickshifter parameters if needed... For example more aggressive downblips in more aggressive mode 1.

Hi my 2021 sp is about to go to Lextek in Exeter in England as a development bike on Monday 2nd of August, they will have it 5 days at which point there will be an exhaust available for the new mt from them, Woolwich racing are currently cracking the ECU, I will ask Lextek to put the standard exhaust back on my bike until the ECU is cracked as I don't want a poor running bike, at the moment it's great and if you cruise on it it's excellent on fuel 57 miles per UK gallon or 46.5 per us gallon, if I cane it I still get 45, that's really giving it stick. I have 3100 miles on it bought it 1st of may, absolutely love it fantastic bike, I live in Dorset southern England which is all country twisty roads, it's perfect, I find the handling is superb, my brother has the standard bike in tech black and quite frankly that handles really well as well and for the money is a bargain. I considered KTM but I wanted Yamaha reliability and that beautiful cross plane crank triple, it's just got torque everywhere. I have a Ducati multistrada as well which I just don't ride anymore as it's horrible to ride in comparison to the mt09, it's a joy to hoon down country roads on and flick through the corners or just cruise and short shift in to top. So Lextek will have an exhaust available very soon probably exiting underneath the right peg.
