So this ECU recall is on top of the other ECU recall?

 

Appears to be that way. Says even if you already had the previous one then you need to get the new one as well.

 

The O2 sensor wiring recall jives with what I saw when I looked at my O2 sensor connector a week ago.

The connector is behind the radiator side cover so it's not directly exposed to splash, and the connectors have seals on both sides. But, due to the way the wiring is routed, I noticed that one of the wires on the top connector exited the seal at an angle, 'opening' up that seal slightly. Water could potentially leak down the wiring and into the compromised seal and over time can corrode the connection.

I don't ride in the rain and I don't wash my bike so there was no corrosion. I'd imagine someone who dailies their bike rain or shine, or washes their bike often, could have a problem with that.

 

Unless my bike stalls periodically, I am not getting the flash, I don't want to get it tuned again afterwards. I can easily improve the waterproofing on my O2 sensor, probably better than the dealer can. It is staying out of the dealership. I never had them touch the CCT on my early gen1, because I put a stop screw and nut on it myself.

 

I wonder if the dealership would be willing to do just one of the two recalls, or are they legally bound to do both if the bike is in the shop?

I really do not want them **** with my ECU once I get it tuned... and there's no way I'd be able to fit in the recall visit before my tuning appointment.

Edit: I may just opt to forego the recalls and waterproof the connector myself via dielectric grease + some shrink tubing janky engineering.

 

Just been to the local dealer in Poland and they only have the ECU fw upd recall on the list, no O2 thing.

 

Is this recall the old one that all here in Europe have done or something new?

 

You'll get a letter eventually. I did for my first ECU recall, about a couple weeks after a similar thread popped up on this site.

 

Just did this recall today, ECU one, and it's a very apparent improvement I'd say, bike changes gears a bit differently now, I don't know how to explain this in words to be honest. Overall the ride has got smoother. Definitely recommend to everyone.

Another interesting thing that this firmware version is 02, and before it was 01 as you can see from the photo, however I've did 2 of the ECU recall firmware updates before, so it should've been 03 to 04 if we're talking logic here. The only thing I can think is that the updates before were minor bug fixes and this one is a major release
