How many of you use the QS to shift from 1st to 2nd? If so, how do you find it?

On a couple of other bikes it been to clunky and have avoided doing it on this one.

I hardly ever do it. Just because it’s too harsh. When I do though, it’s at lower RPM.

It "can" quickshift well through neutral....I never bother though for fear of the few times it doesn't. There's a reason racebike gearboxes are stacked with neutral at the top.

I don’t use the QS from 1-2 or 2-1
Not because I am an expert, but because I’ve read on forums that it’s just better not to
Something to do with torque being quite high in 1st ???

I have done it, but agree with everyone it doesn’t feel great so I usually avoid it.

I do it ALL the time, every time!

I love banging through 1-2-3 while leaving a stop light or a highway ramp.

I sometimes do the clutchless downshift 2-1, but only when coming into a very sharp turn or a stop sign. The downshifts are more jarring, but ok to do every now and then.

It's hard to figure out the variables between motorcycles from the same manufacturer sometimes. I'm guessing that the quick shifter on the 09 is the same one as on other Yamahas. I have a quick shifter on my MT10 and it's silky smoth between 1st & 2nd.

Only use it 1-2 if really pinging away from the lights etc. and then only in the high revs. It's not too bad up there, but really clunky low revs.
