Mine turns off during harder acceleration and back on during cruising regardless of speed. I believe.

Yesterday I actually felt that pads could be helpful but that’s only at the very bottom between the seat and the plastic tank part. The pads that I see on other fz’s Go way beyond where anybody would need them.

Indeed. But I clamp somewhere near the frame and a little bit of the plastic side piece. I don’t think I’ve touched the tank where I see all the pads at all. Maybe my shins are too short.

So consensus is mainly cosmetic. They can look good though.
