So, has anyone considered or tried putting 41 mm clip-ons n the FZ? I guess you could say a budget impersonation of the Woodcraft kit? I've had the stock bars, the ProTaper Carmichael Contour and considering one thing different. Plus, I can get some clip-ons for $16-45ish. Any experience, ideas or concerns?

It's the last thing I would do to a bike like ours. Totally not meant for it. Get a real sportbike.
I wouldn't ride it super crazy and not going to track it, just something cheaper and interesting.

tank and air scoops would be the concern with standard clip on bars. woodcraft set up is the closest you can get to standard, looked into it myself...just a bad design by Yamaha (tank & air scoops).
I have the woodcraft clip-ons on my FZ, i'm also 6'5 though with very long arms. Anything other than these (which are much lower then stock) felt super shitty. I could lean back and recline while riding on the highways...
edit: and the riding position for ME is perfect and not uncomfortable whatsoever, handling is excellent as well...

What mm would you need for the clipons that go on the tubes and are they mounted on the top thicker part or a bit lower where its slimmer

I tried a set of 50mm (pre 18 R6) clip on’s. They don’t work. One, there is not enough clamp area on the 09 forks and two, the bars and controls hit the tank quickly. I’m sure you can make it work by limiting the lock to lock dramatically. The best thing to use to get that low and forward are the Buell Clubman bars. Very low and forward without hitting the tank when turning. You will need a different clutch cable if you can find a set of the Clubman bars. There are a few older threads on here for bars that work on the 09. I haven’t tried the new XSR Clubman type bars yet but those look even lower than the Buell version.

I have installed the XSR clubmans onto a 2017 FZ, everything clears the tank...used an FJ clutch cable and routed through the throttle bodies and back via oem routing at the top left side of the radiator, etc...

I betcha Yamaha is doing that and more as we speak in building the R9 using the same motor and frame as the MT/Tracer ...look what they did with the R7 after all! Starting with the MT07 chassis they used a different triple tree to reduce the rake and changed the rear suspension and linkage and used a new shorter fork with clipons....added some re imagined rear sets a full fairing and some premium components and VIOLA a bonafide low key sportbike emerged from identical base platform...I will be amazed if Yamaha dies not follow this identical recipe (next year's release?) on the upcoming R9 ...So I believe someone COULD now try to replicate a lot of this on their current FZ/MT 09 ....not sure where to source triple trees to adjust the rake *someoe likely makes that though or would) but likely there are suspension mods available for the rear. ...and if the stock forks were simply raised a bit in the triples? (is that possible?) amd reworked internals perhaps? Then add the clip ons and more severe rearsets? Maybe someone could make a naked R9 before the R9 even comes out? And heck if one did all that? Why not go full monte and install a full fairing too? I sure would not bother because like another said "just buy a sportbike" ...BUT I sure would LOVE to see someone else do it! And then read a review on how it works maye complete with lap time comparison or whatever
You could check into Convertibars. I had them on my FZ1. The bikes design limited where I could position the bars and like my FZ09, I limited the steering lock to have my bars as low as possible.
