Why are people getting the flash? Just for fuelling? Perhaps it's just on some bikes as mines fine on STD..?

Having your bike flashed is more than just a fuelling issue, it's also about the smoothness of the throttle engine breaking etc.

Not a problem I have noticed to be honest. Perhaps coming from a Ducati and a carb'ed XJR it feels smooth anyway.

I'm curious why some say it will void the warranty. Nels of 2WDYW lives close by, and my local dealer knows him. They have no issues with a flash, and I had one of my other bikes done and had a warranty issue. No problems. Is there something happening outside the US that is different? Both my XSR and FZ are stock right now, but if I pick up an MT 10, I'd flash it to go with a Yosh exhaust. Anyway, just wondering.
    Cheers, G

If you go with a Flash ECU, and DYI, you can just flash stock back. To my knowledge, there isn't a flash counter or anything like that in the XSR ECU.

Sorry, I wasn't concerned. I was just curious as to where this was happening. I have no interest in flashing anything now, systems are stock. Just saying, I'd do it no matter what Yamaha says or the warranty. Did it to my first FZ, 4 years ago, and Yamaha didn't care. If I got a future bike, and changed the exhaust, I'd do it without any concern regarding warranty issues.

Update. Got a new Yosh exhaust for the FZ, had the ECU flashed by Nels (local). Wasn't planning either, but what the heck. No MT 10 this year, so threw some money at the bikes instead. Doing the XSR suspension next, maybe a flash from Ivan for that one...or not. Cheers.
